The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The biggest surprise of round 21 was guest BK Opava's (12-9) road victory over 4th placed BK Kolin (11-10) 96-85 on Saturday evening. BK Opava made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Jakub Sirina (186-87, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 20 points and 9 assists. Center Martin Gniadek (203-90) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. BK Opava's coach Petr Czudek used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward David Machac (205-80) who recorded 26 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). BK Opava have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. BK Kolin lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with USK Praha. BK Opava are looking forward to face league's second-placed BK Pardubice at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BK Kolin will play against Basketbal Svitavy and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Usti nad Labem. Sixth ranked USK Praha (11-10) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 7th ranked BK Usti nad Labem (9-12) 69-66 on Saturday evening. It was a good game for Croatian center Mladen Primorac (210-90) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Alexander Madsen contributed with 8 points for the winners. American point guard Mikey Thompson (190, college: Boise St.) answered with 23 points for BK Usti nad Labem. USK Praha have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with BK Kolin. BK Usti nad Labem at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. USK Praha will play against NH Ostrava (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BK Usti nad Labem will play against BK Decin (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Bottom-ranked Basketbal Svitavy managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the series of two consecutive losses. This time they won against eighth-ranked Prostejov 73-60. Hunter Mickelson nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Prostejov's coach Zbynek Choleva rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Basketbal Svitavy (6-15) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with NH Ostrava. Prostejov lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Basketbal Svitavy's next round opponent will be higher ranked BK Kolin (#5) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

The victory was the sixth consecutive win for CEZ Nymburk. Defending champion maintains first place with 20-1 record. MMCITE Brno lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with 16 games lost. CEZ Nymburk will face Prostejov (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. MMCITE Brno will play against BK Lions Hradec (#9) and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 21 J.Hradec was crushed by NH Ostrava in a road game 102-82.
The best stats of 21th round was 17 points and 11 rebounds by Ethan Jacobs of Prostejov.

BK Pardubice - BK Decin 101-75

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Pardubice. Second ranked BK Pardubice faced 3rd placed BK Decin. Host BK Pardubice (17-4) smashed guests from Decin (14-8) 101-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BK Decin. BK Pardubice forced 19 BK Decin turnovers and outrebounded them 39-23 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Joseph Wall (199-89, college: Seattle Pacific, agency: Diamond Sports) stepped up and scored 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Dominez Burnett (196-92, college: Davenport) chipped in 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Tomas Vyoral (190-92, agency: Octagon Europe) with 20 points and 6 assists and the former international power forward Pavel Houska (203-84, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 12 points. Four BK Decin players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. There was a minor upset when 9th ranked BK Lions Hradec (7-14) was crushed on the road by eleventh ranked NH Ostrava (6-15) 102-82 on Saturday. NH Ostrava shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Petr Bohacik (205-85) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Sterling Smith (193-93, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 23 points and 6 assists. Five NH Ostrava players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Malcolm Brooks (196-92, college: CS Fullerton) who recorded 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import point guard Terrell Lipkins (180-91, college: Montevallo) added 19 points respectively. Former Czech National Team member Pavel Benes (190-G-75) has been named the new head coach of BC BK Geosan Kolin. Benes 42, has signed a three-year contract with BK Geosan Kolin and it will be hist forst time as a head coach in the NBL. He spent the past few years leading Nymburk's U19 squad, this past season to a 4th place finish as well as an assistant on the Senior National Team under Ronin Ronen Ginzburg.   [read more]

He played most recently at BK Pardubice in NBL league in Czech Republic. In 42 games he averaged 12.4ppg, 5.9rpg, 4.0apg and 1.5spg last season.
