The Second Stage in NBL just started.

Fifth-ranked BK Opava (12-11) gave a tough game to BK Decin (16-8) on Saturday. BK Decin managed to secure only three-point victory 112-109. However their fans expected easier game. BK Decin looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by BK Opava helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international forward Tomas Pomikalek (200-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international power forward Pavel Houska (203-84, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side center Martin Gniadek (203-90) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BK Decin are looking forward to face CEZ Nymburk at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. BK Opava will play against USK Praha (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game took place in Brno where Prostejov (8-15) was upset on the court of MMCITE Brno (7-16) 86-77. American guard Kevin Ware (188-93, college: Georgia St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) nailed 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Jan Kozina accounted for 15 points and 4 assists. American guard Rayshawn Simmons (193, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Two Points) came up with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for Prostejov in the defeat. MMCITE Brno will play against NH Ostrava (#12) on the road in the next round. Prostejov will play against BK Usti nad Labem (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1:
In Places 1-6 BK Kolin was destroyed by CEZ Nymburk on the opponent's court 90-57.
In Places 7-12 Usti n/Labem unfortunately lost to Svitavy in a home game 61-75. J.Hradec recorded a loss to NH Ostrava on the road 83-101.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points and 16 rebounds by Ladislav Pecka of Usti n/Labem.

CEZ Nymburk - BK Kolin 90-57

Very expected game when BK Kolin (11-12) was crushed on the road by CEZ Nymburk (22-1) 90-57. CEZ Nymburk made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. CEZ Nymburk brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. American swingman Chris Hass (196-94, college: Bucknell) nailed 14 points and 5 assists for the winning side and international forward Martin Kriz (200-93) accounted for 11 points and 8 rebounds. Five CEZ Nymburk players scored in double figures. American forward Garret Kerr (194-92, college: Univ.Sciences) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and power forward David Machac (205-80) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for BK Kolin in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CEZ Nymburk will play against BK Decin (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BK Kolin will play against BK Pardubice and hopes to get back on the winning track.

American forward Hunter Mickelson (208-92, college: Kansas) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Pavel Slezak (186-84) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Ladislav Pecka (197-91) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and American point guard Mikey Thompson (190, college: Boise St.) added 13 points respectively for BK Usti nad Labem in the defeat. Brett Roseboro(208-F/C-91, college: UMBC, agency: Inception Sports) has agreed on terms of contract extension with Svitavy. The power forward has penned a new deal for the next season. Brett Roseboro joined the team at the start of the season. He tallied 10.5 points, 5.9 rebounds per game in the Czech NBL.
