ZBL Round 21: Leader USK Praha gets another victory - Feb 27, 2017

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in ZBL.

Undefeated leader USK Praha delivered the twentieth consecutive win on Sunday night. This time they crushed 11th ranked MK Technic (1-20) 113-48 in Brno. USK Praha dominated down low during the game scoring 92 of its points in the paint compared to MK Technic's 28 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded MK Technic 51-24 including a 36-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. USK Praha looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by MK Technic's players. The best player for the winners was American power forward Candice Dupree (188-84, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds. Latvian center Anete Steinberga (190-90, college: UTEP, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 27 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was guard Hana Gasicova (167-98) who recorded 10 points. MK Technic's coach Lucie Zitkova gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated USK Praha (20-0) have an impressive series of twenty victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 20 victories in a row. MK Technic lost eighteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 20 games lost. They share it with U19 Chance. USK Praha's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Praha BLK Praha.
The game in Ostrava was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Basketball Nymburk (15-6) played at the court of 8th ranked SBS Ostrava (8-13). Basketball Nymburk defeated SBS Ostrava 75-62. It was a good game for Russian-Ukrainian center Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds. Alena Hunkova contributed with 20 points for the winners. Basketball Nymburk's coach Daniel Kurucz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Danielle Butts (178-92, college: N.Carolina) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds for SBS Ostrava. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Basketball Nymburk. They moved-up to third place, which they share with BLK Praha. SBS Ostrava lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Karlovy Vary. Basketball Nymburk will play against Karlovy Vary (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SBS Ostrava will play against Valosun Brno and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Trutnov was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Valosun Brno (14-5) played at the court of 7th ranked LOKO Trutnov (11-10). Valosun Brno did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 88-71 on Saturday. Tereza Peckova stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners. The best for the losing side was Andrea Vackova with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Valosun Brno. They maintain fifth place with 14-5 record. LOKO Trutnov at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Valosun Brno will meet at home SBS Ostrava (#9) in the next round. LOKO Trutnov will play against Handicap in Brno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 21 Slovanka MB was crushed by Karlovy Vary in a road game 87-64. BLK Praha beat Handicap Brno at home 88-70.
The best stats of 21th round was 20 points and 10 rebounds by Dana Kuslitova of Karlovy Vary.

SBS Ostrava - Nymburk 62-75

The game in Ostrava was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Basketball Nymburk (15-6) played at the court of 8th ranked SBS Ostrava (8-13). Basketball Nymburk defeated SBS Ostrava 75-62. They outrebounded SBS Ostrava 50-35 including a 24-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Russian-Ukrainian center Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds. No shocking result in a game when third ranked BLK Praha (15-6) defeated at home 6th ranked Handicap (12-9) 88-70 on Saturday. BLK Praha had a 25-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. American swingman Krystal Vaughn (185-86, college: VCU) stepped up and scored 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Serbian swingman Jovana Jaksic (178-92) chipped in 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five BLK Praha players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Pavla Svrdlikova (185-90) with 19 points and the former international guard Katerina Sedlakova (176-90) scored 12 points and 4 assists.
