Here is the weekly review of the top performing Czech Republic players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Jan Vesely (213-90, currently plays in Turkey). He contributed to a 3-point Fenerbahce's victory against the fifth-ranked Darussafaka (14-7) 79-76 in a derby game in the Turkish BSL in Monday night's game. Vesely scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 21 minutes on the court. Fenerbahce Istanbul (19-2) is placed first in the BSL. It was his team's 12th consecutive victory in a row. Vesely has relatively good stats this year: 10.8ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.5apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 69.6%(78-112) and FT: 71.8% in 17 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Czech Republic senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international shooting guard Tomas Kyzlink (195-93, currently plays in Slovenia). Kyzlink led Helios to a victory over the league outsider Portoroz (1-20) crushing them 78-58 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM last Tuesday. He was MVP of the game. Kyzlink recorded 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Helios Suns Domzale (12-9) is placed sixth in the Liga Nova KBM. The Regular Season already ended. It's Kyzlink's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 55.0%, 3FGP: 32.4% and FT: 76.3%. Kyzlink is in the roster of the Czech Republic senior national team.

   #3. The Czech Republic player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Patrik Auda (206-89, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Seton Hall, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to an La ICL Manresa's surprising victory against the fourth-ranked Baskonia (16-7) 87-82 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. Auda scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. ICL Manresa (4-19) is located at the very bottom in the Liga Endesa. But the situation may improve as they ended a series of five consecutive loses. This year Auda's overall stats are: 9.9ppg, 4.3rpg, 2FGP: 56.1%(46-82), 3FGP: 52.0%(13-25) and FT: 79.4% in 16 games. He is also a member of the Czech Republic senior national team.

   #4. Point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91, also represented by Octagon Europe, currently plays in NBA) managed to help Washington Wizards to win against the Denver Nuggets (32-35) 123-113 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. Satoransky recorded only 3 points. The Washington Wizards have a solid 41-25 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. This season Satoransky averages: 2.7ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.6apg. He is also Czech Republic national team player.

   #5. International swingman David Jelinek (195-90, another player represented by Octagon Europe, currently plays in Spain). Jelinek could not help Andorra (11-11) to beat UCAM Murcia (8-15). He did not have that impressive stats last Sunday. Jelinek scored only 2 points in 14 minutes. Andorra was crushed 77-53 on the road by the lower-ranked (#13) UCAM Murcia. Jelinek has reliable stats this year: 10.8ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.5apg in 22 games. He plays currently for the Czech Republic national team.

   #6. Forward Filip Halada (198-92, currently plays in Slovakia) was not able to help Rieker KN in their game against Kosice (29-6) in the Slovakian SBL. He scored 8 points in 22 minutes. Rieker KN lost 73-84 on the opponent's court to the leading Kosice. It was Rieker KN's third consecutive loss in a row. Halada's stats this year are: 11.1ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.5apg in 30 games. He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Czech Republic team five years ago.

Former international center Tomas Hampl (215-88, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Mondragon (7-13) crushing them 86-57 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. He scored 11 points. Igualatorio Cantabria Estela Santander (19-1) is placed first in Group A-A. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Hampl's stats this season are: 14.2ppg and 5.9rpg. He used to play for the Czech Republic national team five years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Czech Republic passport but never been selected to any of Czech Republic national teams:

   #1. Jaroslav Tyrna (207-C-86, agency: Octagon Europe, college: New Orleans, currently plays in Germany) led Sixers to a victory against the third-ranked Stade (12-4) 70-66 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) on Saturday night. Tyrna scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group North. BSW Sixers Sandersdorf (13-4) is placed second. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Tyrna's stats this season are: 10.9ppg, 7.1rpg and 2.6apg.

   #2. Lubos Novy (204-C-91, currently plays in Germany) led Vilsbiburg to a victory over the ninth-ranked Rosenheim (10-12) crushing them 96-75 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) last Saturday. Novy was the best player in that game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 10 rebounds. Novy also added 2 blocks. Baskets Vilsbiburg (15-7) is placed fourth in South-East group. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Novy is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his sixth year in Vilsbiburg's roster. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Novy averages: 17.3ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.3apg.

   #3. Jakub Kasa (203-F-92, currently plays in Slovakia) could not help Nitra (3-31) in their last game. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked Nitra was crushed 87-65 at home by the much higher-ranked (#3) Prievidza. Kasa scored 10 points in 31 minutes. It was Nitra's fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year Kasa's total stats are: 8.9ppg and 3.0rpg in seven games he played so far.

   #4. John Boyer (185-PG-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Buffalo, currently plays in Germany) is a teammate of previously mentioned Lubos Novy and both played together in the last German Regionalliga game. Boyer contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Rosenheim (10-12) crushing them 96-75. He had a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Boyer also added 8 assists and 3 steals in 37 minutes. Boyer has very impressive stats this year: 15.8ppg, 6.9rpg, 7.5apg and 4.8spg in 19 games. He is a naturalized American. Worth to mention Boyer played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Boyer used to play for BK Decin in Czech Republic league.

   #5. Adrian Melski (192-G/F-92, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Zwickau in their game against Treuchtlingen (16-6) in the German Regionalliga (fourth division). Despite his good performance on Saturday night He scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Melski's total stats this season are: 8.0ppg and 4.3rpg.

   #6. Filippo Meccoli Matejca (194-G-92, currently plays in Italy) was the main contributor in Valdiceppo's victory against the 11th-ranked Giulianova crushing them 81-44 in the Italian Serie B (third division) in Sunday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Meccoli Matejca scored 16 points in 30 minutes. This year Meccoli Matejca's total stats are: 9.2ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.9apg in 22 games. He has a dual citizenship: Czech Republic and Italian.

FINAL BK Decin - CEZ Nymburk 71-82 CEZ Nymburk overcame BK Decin to take 1-0 lead in the Finals. Cuban forward Howard Sant-Roos (200-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Eugene Lawrence (184-86, college: St.John's) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Brett Roseboro(208-F/C-91, college: UMBC, agency: Inception Sports) has agreed on terms of contract extension with Svitavy. The power forward has penned a new deal for the next season. Brett Roseboro joined the team at the start of the season. He tallied 10.5 points, 5.9 rebounds per game in the Czech NBL. Previously the forward had stints in Uruguay, Czech Republic and Finland.   [read more]
