Bakken Bears swept Svendborg Rabbits with
perfect 4-0 in the Finals to win Ligaen title for season 2010/11. The
Rabbits won it last season and before that Bakken grabbed three trophies
in a row.
The hosts trailed by 13 points at the halftime before their 42-22 charge
in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Bakken dominated
on the defensive end, holding Svendborg to just 4 points in third
quarter. They also forced 19 Svendborg turnovers. 25 personal fouls
committed by Svendborg helped opponents get some easy free throw
opportunities. American-Belizean guard
Charles Burgess (186-G-84, college:
Texas Tech) fired 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals for
the winners. The former international center
Chris Christoffersen (218-79, college:
Oregon)
chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds (on
6-of-7 shooting from the field). The former international power forward
Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college:
San
Jose City JC, agency:
Rasmussen Services) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points
and 10 rebounds and American forward
Matt Williams (200-77, college:
Montana) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side.
Five Bakken and four Svendborg players scored in double figures. Both
coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for
the next games.
Bakken Bears advanced to Playoffs as No.3 in regular season with 24-3
record. They eliminated Aabyhoj with 2-0 in the Quarterfinals and later
blasted Naestved 3-0 in the Semis.
