The most important game in the last round took place in Horsens between third ranked Horsens (10-6) and eighth ranked Lemvig (4-12) on Saturday night. Horsens were defeated by Lemvig in a tough game at home 70-76. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Horsens. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 22-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Lemvig forced 20 Horsens turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Rebecca Kielpinski (188-C-89, college: Alaska-Anch.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 19 rebounds. Forward Emely Hatch (-89) contributed with 16 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American swingman Brittany Bowen (177-88, college: Butler) replied with 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for Horsens. Lemvig moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Falcon and Amager. Horsens at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. Lemvig is looking forward to face higher ranked Vaerlose (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Horsens will play against the league's second-placed Horsholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Horsholm (12-4) which played road game in Vaerlose against 4th ranked Vaerlose (8-8). Second ranked Horsholm managed to get a 8-point victory 76-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vaerlose. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Therese Deemand (175-83, college: Binghamton) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Mathilde Gilling who added 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Julia Houghtaling (-86) responded with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Horsholm maintains second position with 12-4 record having four points less than leader SISU. Vaerlose at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Horsholm will play against Horsens (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vaerlose will play against Lemvig and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Dameligaen top team - SISU (16-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Amager (4-12) in Copenhagen 82-63. The winners were led by Julie Kongeskov who scored that evening 26 points and 7 rebounds. SISU's coach Hrannar Holm used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by Catharina Jensen did not help to save the game for Amager. Undefeated SISU have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 16-0 record. Amager lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Falcon and Lemvig. SISU will meet Falcon (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Amager will play against Aabyhoj and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 16 Falcon was beaten by Aabyhoj on the road 73-66.


Aabyhoj - Falcon 73-66

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Aabyhoj's (6-10) home victory over 6th ranked Falcon (4-12) 73-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 7 points. The winners were led by guard Maria Jespersen (179-94) who scored that evening 20 points and 6 rebounds and forward Courtney Coryea (185) supported her with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds by American center Trenice Fuller (193-87, college: Hofstra) did not help to save the game for Falcon. Guard Elisabeth Hansen (176-93) added 22 points for lost side. Aabyhoj maintains fifth position with 6-10 record. Falcon lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Amager and Lemvig. Aabyhoj will meet Amager (#6) in the next round. Falcon will play against the league's leader SISU in Copenhagen and hope to secure a win.

An interesting game for Horsholm (12-4) which played road game in Vaerlose against 4th ranked Vaerlose (8-8). Second ranked Horsholm managed to get a 8-point victory 76-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vaerlose. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vaerlose won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Horsholm won last quarter 19-13. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Vaerlose was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Therese Deemand (175-83, college: Binghamton) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward Mathilde Gilling (186-93) who added 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Julia Houghtaling (-86) responded with 27 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Jaimie McFarlin (180-89, college: Wash.-St.Louis) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. 79ers (Dameligaen) agreed terms with 23-year old American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian State). She played most recently at ViVe in Finnish SM-sarja, but left. In three games she had very impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 9.0rpg, 1.7apg and 1.0spg last season. She was also voted All-Sun Belt 1st Team in 2015 at her college time.
