American forward Donald Rutherford (198-F-87) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for SISU, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 25. The 24-year old player had a double-double of 41 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed Aalborg (#8, 8-16) with 34-point margin 100-66. SISU maintains the 4th position in Danish Ligaen. SISU is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-13 record. In the team's last game Rutherford had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. It's his second year at SISU and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Former Catawba College star has very solid stats this year. Rutherford is in league's top in points (4th best: 21.5ppg), rebounds (9th best: 8.4rpg) and averages impressive 52.7% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old American D'Mario Curry (201-F-85) of Aabyhoj. Curry had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Aabyhoj was edged by the higher-ranked Vaerlose (#6, 10-15) 73-70. Aabyhoj managed to keep the same 9th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-17 record. Curry is a newcomer at Aabyhoj, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.2ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 10.9rpg and 3.4apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was Slovenian guard Davor Sattler (185-G-86, agency: Global Sports Plaza) of Horsens IC (#5). Sattler got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He was a key player of Horsens IC, leading his team to a 97-87 win against the higher-ranked Svendborg (#2, 22-3). The chances of Horsens IC ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Sattler could help Horsens IC to bring them higher in the standings. Sattler has a great season in Denmark. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.6apg (5th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Nicolai Iversen (205-F/C-80) of Bakken - 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Durell Vinson (201-F-85) of Svendborg - 15 points and 10 rebounds 6. Will Harris (198-F-86) of Horsens IC - 22 points and 8 rebounds 7. Mike Flowers (193-G-86) of SISU - 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists 8. Chris Christoffersen (218-C-79) of Bakken - 16 points and 6 rebounds 9. Matthew Kingsley (206-F-86) of Svendborg - 17 points and 4 rebounds 10. Bonell Colas (205-F-82) of Horsholm - 20 points and 4 rebounds
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Nicklas Jonsson, the 6'4 point guard out of Denmark has accepted an athletic scholarship to attend Lander University. Nicklas will begin his freshmen season in August 2016. The Lander University coaching staff is very excited to sign Nicklas. They see him as a potential impact freshmen. At 6'4 he can play both guard spots and his experience in the top Danish basketball league will make him a great asset. Nicklas spent one season with Global Squad where he helped the Gold Dragons to their best record in program history. The team went 16-4 and took home one AAU Championship in Baltimore, Maryland. Nicklas' high basketball IQ was a huge factor in the teams success. He finished 2nd on the team in assists and shot an impressive 47% from the field. Nicklas is such a team oriented player but still had his share of individual highlights with Global Squad. This included a season high 13 points vs Team Loaded. Nicklas was also an all-around force vs Constitution High School when he tallied 11 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. In the Elevate Hoops Tournament, Nicklas showed he can play against some of the best high school players in the world. Nicklas was a beast in crunch time of the semi-finals. This earned him interest from many NCAA coaches, including Southern Connecticut State University, Harcum College, and Menlo University. After all was said and done, Nicklas chose to accept the offer from Lander University. He will be playing in one of the most competitive NCAA D-II conferences in the United States. It will provide a great challenge for Nicklas, but he is more than capable of taking it head on. Courtesy of: abasketballacademy.com
