Naestved and Svendborg met last night in Game Two of the Ligaen Semifinals. The home squad celebrated 73-65 victory tying the score to 1-1 in the series. Svendborg won in the first game 74-70. The format is best-of-five and teams will meet again on Monday. Svendborg will be the host in Game Three. Naestved trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-65. Naestved outrebounded Svendborg 42-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. American point guard Corin Henry (180-88, college: Tarleton St.) scored 28 points to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin, agency: I.D.S. Law) chipped in 7 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The former international guard Adama Darboe (190-86) responded with 25 points and American forward Durell Vinson (201-85, college: Wagner) scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Svendborg players scored in double figures. Naestved ended regular season as No.3 with 17-10 record. Svendborg was No.2 with 23-4. They eliminated Horsholm and Vaerlose respectively.
Recently the club reported that they have signed Head Coach Graig Pedersen to a long-term deal of 4 years. Doing so should secure a continuity to the program and may also help attract players, as Pedersen is highly regarded as one of the top coaches in Denmark in recent years.
