Denmark finally gained victory at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament. The Scandinavian team toppled New Zealand to occupy the 15th overall position. Peter Moeller (186-G-94) posted 21 points and 5 assists to lead the winners. Denmark gained a narrow 18:16 lead after ten minutes of action. The teams exchanged baskets throughout the second quarter. The European side managed to secure a 29:27 halftime advantage. Denmark boosted the margin in the third term. They cleared off to a 10-point distance at the final break 52:42. Denmark unloaded 29 points in the fourth frame and gave no chance for New Zealand to bounce back. Tobias Christensen (95) provided 11 points, while Adam Holm-Weber (178-G-94) contributed 10 in the victory. Tom Vodanovich (198-F-94) answered with 16 points for New Zealand. Reuben Te Rangi (201-F-94) chipped in 12 points in the loss.
Recently the club reported that they have signed Head Coach Graig Pedersen to a long-term deal of 4 years. Doing so should secure a continuity to the program and may also help attract players, as Pedersen is highly regarded as one of the top coaches in Denmark in recent years.

On another positive note the Rabbits also reported re-signing Claus Magaard, one of the CDL's top shooters. However, the team is still lacking height so it will be interesting to see what other Rabbits can be pulled out of the hat in Svendborg in the off-season.
Rumors also have Adama Darboe and Donald Rutherford (199-F/C-87, college: Catawba), two of the team's leading scorers, heading somewhere else.
Svendborg have extended the contract of Claus Magaard (194-F/G-86). The guard had a solid season with the Rabbits. He tallied 8.0 points, 2.9 boards, 1.1 assists per game in Ligaen last season. It will be the ninth season with the Rabbits for Claus Magaard. He was Danish Ligaen champion and two-times Cup winner with the team. [read more]

Craig Pedersen will remain the head coach of Svendborg. The Rabbits signed a new deal with their long-time head coach. The contract is meant for four seasons. Craig Pedersen has been working with the Rabbits since 2003. He led the team to two Danish Cup titles in 2008 and 2012. Svendborg also claimed the Ligaen title in 2010. Craig Pedersen was chosen to the Ligaen All-Star Game in 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012. The last season Svendborg clinched the regular season title but surrendered against the Bakken Bears in the Finals. Craig Pedersen finished his players career in 2006. He worked as playing head coach for three seasons.
