U18 SWITZERLAND - U18 DENMARK 62-69

Denmark heads to the second stage of U18 EuroBasket Division B in Strumica. They celebrated 69-62 win against Switzerland today to finish as the second ranked team of Group B with almost perfect 3-1 record. Switzerland closes the standings in this pool with 0-3 and will continue in Classification Round. There, teams will fight for position No.9 at this event (places 9-18). Switzerland made plus 10 in the first quarter and later went to the halftime with 11-point lead. Denmark drastically improved after the breather closing the gap to a single point with ten minutes remaining. They continued in the same rhythm (24-16) and celebrated 69-62 win at the end. Maria Jespersen (179-G-94) exploded with 26 points and 13 rebounds in Denmark. She reached valuation 40! Freja Christensen (174-G/F-94) and Frederikke Mollerup (177-G/F-95) scored 16 and 10 points respectively. In defeat, Laura Perrenoud (189-C-94) collected 13 points and 8 rebs. Alexandra Koch (175-PG-94) and Dijana Milenkovic (180-SF-96) netted 12 points each. Championship continues on Wednesday.

The game between third ranked Amager (2-3) and fifth ranked Stevnsgade (3-4) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Amager was defeated by Stevnsgade in a tough game in Stevnsgade 67-71. Amager was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Valerie Driscoll claims Danish Dameligaen weekly honour - 12 days ago

American Valerie Driscoll (193-C-92) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Virum and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6. The 24-year old center had a double-double of 19 points and nineteen rebounds, while her team beat Stevnsgade (#5, 2-4) 55-45. It allowed Virum to consolidate first place in the Danish Dameligaen. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. An exciting game was played in Virum. Top-ranked Virum faced 4th ranked Stevnsgade. Host Virum (6-0) defeated guests from Stevnsgade (2-4) 55-45. The game was mostly controlled by Virum. Stevnsgade managed to win fourth quarter 13-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Virum forced 19 Stevnsgade turnovers.
