American Donald Rutherford (199-F/C-87) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Svendborg and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. The 25-year old power forward had a double-double of 32 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team crushed Horsholm (#8, 2-6) with 18-point margin 90-72. Svendborg maintains the 2nd position in Danish Ligaen. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is already in a full swing and Svendborg still have not lost a single game, getting all 8 victories. In the team's last game Rutherford had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. He turned to be Svendborg's top player in his first season with the team. Catawba College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Rutherford is league's best scorer averaging so far 24.1ppg. Rutherford is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.1rpg) and averages solid 59.3% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old American forward Bonell Colas (205-F-82) of Randers. Colas impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 32 points and 17 rebounds. Of course he lead Randers to another comfortable win 100-82 over Aalborg (#10, 0-8) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Randers to move up to 7th position in the standings. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Randers managed to get this year. Colas is a newcomer at Randers and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was another Randers' star - Damian Ocana (198-F-86). Ocana showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, six rebounds and nine assists in the last round. He was another key player of Randers, helping his team with a 100-82 easy win against Aalborg (#10, 0-8). Randers can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Ocana he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Ocana has individually a great season in Denmark. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.4ppg (2nd best). He also has FGP: 52.9% and 3PT: 44.6%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Skyler Bowlin (190-G-89) of Horsens IC - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists 5. Nicolai Iversen (205-F/C-80) of Bakken - 17 points and 11 rebounds 6. Miguel Ortega (188-PG-91) of Randers - 16 points, 2 rebounds and 10 assists 7. Bojan Marinkovic (209-C-84) of Horsholm - 18 points and 6 rebounds 8. Randy Dezouvre (195-F/G-87) of Aarhus BC - 14 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Chris Christoffersen (218-C-79) of Bakken - 20 points and 9 rebounds 10. Andreas Jakobsen (187-PG-83) of Bakken - 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
