Darko Jukic
Ligaen round 13 most important game was a victory of Horsens IC over 4th placed SISU 81-69 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Horsens IC. SISU managed to win fourth quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Horsens IC forced 20 SISU turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by SISU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Darko Jukic (198-G-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Skyler Bowlin (190-89, college: Missouri So., agency: Warren Sports International) contributed with 18 points and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Damon Smith (200-88, college: Mary) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for SISU. SISU's coach Almir Zeco rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Horsens IC have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader Svendborg. SISU at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Horsens IC are looking forward to face league's leader Svendborg at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SISU will play against Aalborg and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Aarhus: Bakken (#2) and Aarhus BC (#6). Aarhus BC was crushed at home by 32 points 48-80 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC) stepped up and scored 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Christian Lindberg chipped in 18 points. Bakken's coach Philip Dejworek felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Bulgarian forward Hristo Petkov (202-85, college: Campbellsville) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Defending champion maintains second place with 10-1 record behind leader Svendborg. Aarhus BC at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Ligaen top team - Svendborg (11-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked Aalborg (1-10) 93-84. Loser Aalborg dropped to the bottom position with ten games lost. Svendborg will meet Horsens IC (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
