The most exciting game of round 9 in the Dameligaen took place in Horsholm. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed Horsholm (4-5) to fifth ranked Vaerlose (4-5) 52-49 in the game for the fourth place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Horsholm won third quarter 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Horsholm 46-31 including 21 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Canadian center Janet Hatfield (190-C-85) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. American guard Alexandra Chili (180, college: Muhlenberg) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Maja Gerlyng-Hansen (180-88, college: Siena) who recorded 13 points. Horsholm's coach Johan Enbom tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Vaerlose moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Horsholm. Vaerlose is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Horsens (#8) on the road in the next round. Horsholm will play against Falcon (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Falcon (6-3) against seventh ranked Aabyhoj (2-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Falcon was defeated by Aabyhoj in Aabyhoj 78-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Falcon. It was a good game for guard Sofie Preetzmann (180-95) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Kelly Meredith contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American center Trenice Fuller (193-87, college: Hofstra) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for Falcon. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aabyhoj maintains seventh place with 2-7 record. Falcon at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Aabyhoj will play against higher ranked Amager (#6) in Kastrup in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Falcon will play on the road against Horsholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Loser Horsens still closes the standings with nine games lost. SISU will meet at home league's second-placed Lemvig in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Horsens will play against Vaerlose (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.

Emily Hatch nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Lemvig. They maintain second place with 8-1 record behind leader SISU. Amager at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Lemvig's next round opponent will be league's leader SISU in Copenhagen and it will be for sure the game of the week. Amager will play on the road against Aabyhoj (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Horsens - SISU 57-94

Undefeated leader SISU delivered the ninth consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Horsens (0-9) 94-57. The game was mostly controlled by SISU. Horsens managed to win third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Horsens' 34 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. SISU forced 23 Horsens turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Center Iben Soltau (185-86, college: St.Bonaventure) stepped up and scored 17 points for the winners and guard Camilla Blands (180-85, college: Alabama) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Four SISU players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Sophie Wich (178) with 17 points and guard Julie Ravn (174-93) scored 18 points. Amager - Lemvig 54-66

The game in Kastrup was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Lemvig (8-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Amager (3-6). Lemvig defeated Amager 66-54. Amager was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 39-20 second half run of Lemvig. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Amager to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 21 Amager turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. American forward Emily Hatch (185-89, college: San Diego) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Austrian power forward Sarah Schicher (188-90, college: Dowling) accounted for 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Catharina Jensen (183-89) came up with 9 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Ida Klussmann (169-93) added 11 points respectively for Amager in the defeat. Very important is a road loss of third ranked Falcon (6-3) against seventh ranked Aabyhoj (2-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Falcon was defeated by Aabyhoj in Aabyhoj 78-64. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Falcon 48-33 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aabyhoj players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Falcon's players. It was a good game for guard Sofie Preetzmann (180-95) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Universidad de Oviedo (LF2) signed 25-year old Danish swingman Anne Pedersen (185-92, college: LSU). She played last season at Sevenoaks Suns in British WBBL. In 21 games she had very impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.7apg. Pedersen won English WBBL championship title. She was voted Eurobasket.com All-English WBBL 1st Team in 2017. Cashin inks at Vaerlose at the beginning of her pro career - 16 days ago
Dameligaen newcomer Vaerlose BBK strengthened their roster with addition of American forward Paige Cashin (193). Cashin just graduated from S.Florida (NCAA). She has played there for the last four years. But in 13 games she recorded only 1.1ppg last season. Cashin helped them to make it to the final. Horsholm 79ers (Dameligaen) strengthened their roster with addition of 25-year old Danish guard Gritt Ryder (178-92). It is actually her comeback to Horsholm as she has played here before. just graduated from Colorado State University (NCAA). As mentioned above Ryder is just out of the college and it will be her first season in pro basketball. Among other achievements her team won MWC Regular Season for two years in a row (2014 and 2015).
