The most exciting game of round 21 in the Ligaen took place in Horsens. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Bakken (14-4) to third ranked Horsens IC (14-4) 79-78 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bakken. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 20-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Darko Jukic (198-90) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. American guard Skyler Bowlin (190-89, college: Missouri So., agency: Warren Sports International) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds. Horsens IC have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Bakken. Horsens IC is looking forward to face Vaerlose (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bakken's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Aarhus Aarhus BC.
Leader Svendborg delivered the sixteenth victory. This time they crushed 8th ranked Aarhus BC (5-13) 83-61. It was a good game for American power forward Donald Rutherford (199-87, college: Catawba) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Adama Darboe contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American swingman Randy Dezouvre (195-87, college: Iona) answered with 9 points and 12 rebounds for Aarhus BC. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Svendborg maintains first place with 16-2 record. Aarhus BC lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Vaerlose. Svendborg will play against Horsholm (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Aarhus BC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Aarhus to the arena Bakken.

Newly promoted Randers maintains sixth place with 7-10 record. Naestved at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with SISU. Randers will meet at home bottom-ranked Aalborg (#10) in the next round. Naestved will play against SISU (#4) in Copenhagen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

SISU - Vaerlose 78-79

A very interesting game took place in Copenhagen. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th placed SISU (10-8) to ninth ranked Vaerlose (5-13) 79-78 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It looked good early as SISU took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Vaerlose took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 1 point. Vaerlose outrebounded SISU 43-25 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and Icelandic Axel Karason (194-83) accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Damon Smith (200-88, college: Mary) came up with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Mikael Nielsen (178-90) added 13 points and 7 assists respectively for SISU in the defeat. Vaerlose moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Aarhus BC. SISU lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Vaerlose's next round opponent will be higher ranked Horsens IC (#3) in Horsens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. The game in Randers supposed to be also quite interesting. 5th ranked Naestved (10-8) played at the court of sixth ranked Randers (7-10). Defending champion Bakken Bears (Ligaen) added to their roster 24-year old American center Brandon Bolden (211-98kg-93, agency: Elevate Agency). He just graduated from Southern (NCAA). In 7 games he recorded 3.3ppg and 1.9rpg last season. Bolden helped them to make it to the semifinals. As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will be his first season as a pro.
