The game between third ranked Bakken (15-5) and fifth ranked Naestved (11-9) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Bakken was defeated by Naestved in a tough game in Naestved 63-67. Naestved maintains fifth place with 11-9 record. Defending champion Bakken keeps the third position with five games lost. Naestved are looking forward to face league's leader Svendborg at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bakken will play against Vaerlose and is hoping to win this game.
Ligaen top team - Svendborg (18-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Randers (8-11) 105-75. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Randers. It was a quality performance for American power forward Donald Rutherford (199-87, college: Catawba) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Gregory Washington accounted for 19 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds for Randers in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Svendborg have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-2 record. Newly promoted Randers keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. Svendborg will play against Naestved (#5) on the road in the next round. Randers will play against Aalborg and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game in Horsholm was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked SISU (12-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Horsholm (5-13). SISU managed to secure a 6-point victory 79-73 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Mickey Dennis who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Casper Hesseldal produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Horsholm's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SISU maintains fourth place with 12-8 record. Horsholm at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. SISU will meet Randers (#6) on the road in the next round. Horsholm will play against the league's second-placed Horsens IC in Horsens and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 23 bottom-ranked Aalborg lost to Vaerlose on the opponent's court 58-73. Aarhus BC unfortunately lost to Horsens IC in a home game 76-91.


Naestved - Bakken 67-63

The game between third ranked Bakken (15-5) and fifth ranked Naestved (11-9) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Bakken was defeated by Naestved in a tough game in Naestved 63-67. Naestved maintains fifth place with 11-9 record. Defending champion Bakken keeps the third position with five games lost. Vaerlose - Aalborg 73-58

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Aalborg (1-16) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Vaerlose (6-14) 73-58 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Vaerlose. Aalborg managed to win second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aalborg to just 6 points in fourth quarter. The best player for the winners was American guard Richard Delk (193-86, college: Troy) who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Vaerlose's coach Thomas Silfen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Anthony Jones (208-89, college: Baylor) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds and guard Niels Andreasen (192-92) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Vaerlose moved-up to seventh place. Aalborg lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Vaerlose will meet higher ranked Bakken (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aalborg will play against Randers (#6).

The game in Horsholm was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked SISU (12-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Horsholm (5-13). SISU managed to secure a 6-point victory 79-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 23-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. SISU made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American swingman Mickey Dennis (190-78, college: JMU) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Mikael Nielsen (178-90) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Casper Hesseldal (198-85, college: Dickinson St., agency: Dynamics Global Management) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and forward Alexander Bak (193-91) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Ligaen top team - Svendborg (18-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Randers (8-11) 105-75. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Randers. The game without a history. Svendborg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Svendborg forced 19 Randers turnovers and outrebounded them 40-25 including 18 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Randers' players. It was a quality performance for American power forward Donald Rutherford (199-87, college: Catawba) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). U.S. Virgin Islands power forward Gregory Washington (208-84, college: Hofstra) accounted for 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Very predictable result when third ranked Horsens IC (16-4) defeated on the road 9th ranked Aarhus BC (5-15) 91-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Horsens IC. Aarhus BC managed to win second period 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Skyler Bowlin (190-89, college: Missouri So.) who scored 21 points and 9 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). The former international guard Darko Jukic (198-90) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Horsens IC players scored in double figures. American swingman Randy Dezouvre (195-87, college: Iona) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds and forward Jakob Wang (190-90) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. Aarhus BC's coach Peter Hoffman tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Horsens IC have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Aarhus BC lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Horsens IC will meet at home Horsholm (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Aarhus BC will play against Horsholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Svendborg Rabbits (Ligaen) agreed terms with 29-year old American point guard Stefan Bonneau (177-75kg-87, college: LIU Post). He already started the season at UMFN Njardvik in Icelandic Dominos League, but left the team in Nov.'16,. In 7 games he had very impressive stats: 18.3ppg, 2.9rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg this season.
