The Regular Season in Ligaen just ended.

Top ranked Svendborg (22-5) recorded its fifth loss in Copenhagen on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked SISU (17-10) 84-70. The game was mostly controlled by SISU. Svendborg managed to win fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SISU dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Svendborg's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Damon Smith (200-88, college: Mary) who scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import swingman Mickey Dennis (190-78, college: JMU) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was U.S. Virgin Islands power forward Gregory Washington (208-84, college: Hofstra) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SISU have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 17-10 record. Svendborg at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Horsens IC (19-8) against sixth ranked Randers (13-14) on Thursday night. Visiting Horsens IC was defeated by Randers in Randers 97-79. It was a good game for American forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 20 rebounds and 4 assists. Damian Ocana contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Skyler Bowlin (190-89, college: Missouri So.) replied with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Horsens IC. Randers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Naestved. Horsens IC at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost.
A very close game took place in Aarhus between Aarhus BC and Naestved. Ninth ranked Aarhus BC (7-20) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Naestved (13-14). Aarhus BC managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 on Thursday evening. The game was dominated by American players. Randy Dezouvre scored 25 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Caleb Walker with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Aarhus BC maintains ninth position with 7-20 record. Loser Naestved keeps the fifth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Randers.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Horsholm moved-up to seventh place. Vaerlose at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 17 games lost.

In the last game of round 30 bottom-ranked Aalborg was defeated by Bakken in Aarhus 104-88.



Aarhus BC - Naestved 78-75

A very close game took place in Aarhus between Aarhus BC and Naestved. Ninth ranked Aarhus BC (7-20) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Naestved (13-14). Aarhus BC managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 on Thursday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Naestved won third quarter 21-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aarhus BC made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Randy Dezouvre (195-87, college: Iona) scored 25 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Charles Funches (203-88, college: Hampton) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Aarhus BC players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Caleb Walker (193-89, college: Nebraska) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and forward Quinton Doggett (203, college: Southern) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Aarhus BC maintains ninth position with 7-20 record. Loser Naestved keeps the fifth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Randers.

American guard Robert Fields (185-88, college: Catawba) notched 24 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Anders Hansen (190-94) supported him with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Fields is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Horsholm players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) did not help to save the game for Vaerlose. Guard Peter Moller (190-94) added 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Horsholm moved-up to seventh place. Vaerlose at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 17 games lost.

Randers - Horsens IC 97-79

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Horsens IC (19-8) against sixth ranked Randers (13-14) on Thursday night. Visiting Horsens IC was defeated by Randers in Randers 97-79. The game was mostly controlled by Randers. Horsens IC was better in second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Randers players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Horsens IC was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 20 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Damian Ocana (198-86) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Randers players scored in double figures. American guard Skyler Bowlin (190-89, college: Missouri So.) replied with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Darko Jukic (198-90) added 20 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Horsens IC. Bakken - Aalborg 104-88

There was no surprise in Aarhus where 10th ranked Aalborg (2-24) was defeated by second ranked Bakken (21-6) 104-88. Aalborg was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 61-43 second half run of Bakken. Canadian forward Marvell Waithe (205-87, college: Arkansas) notched 32 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC) supported him with 20 points. Bakken's coach Mathias Bach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) by Serbian center Milan Bjegovic (211-81) did not help to save the game for Aalborg. American forward Anthony Jones (208-89, college: Baylor) added 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position with 21-6 record behind leader Svendborg. Aalborg at the other side stay dead last with 24 lost games.
