SISU - Randers 84-88

Randers surprised SISU on the road to take the lead in the quarterfinal series. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. Randers made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Randers outrebounded SISU 41-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds. The former international swingman Chris Nielsen (192-85) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Mickey Dennis (190-78, college: JMU) answered with 15 points, 8 assists and 5 steals and the other American import center Zack Moritz (210-88, college: Boise St.) added 13 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for SISU. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures.

Horsens IC - Naestved 100-84

Horsens got to a confident start of their quarterfinal campaign. They held off Naestved at home court. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-84. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Skyler Bowlin (190-89, college: Missouri So.) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 9 assists. The former international guard Darko Jukic (198-90) contributed with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Caleb Walker (193-89, college: Nebraska) answered with 26 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import forward Quinton Doggett (203, college: Southern) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Naestved. Naestved's coach Geoff Kotila rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win.

Bakken - Horsholm 93-70

Bakken Bears knocked down Horsholm at home court to secure 1-0 lead in the series. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-70. Bakken forced 19 Horsholm turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Horsholm helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian forward Marvell Waithe (205-87, college: Arkansas) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Bakken's coach Mathias Bach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Alexander Bak (193-91) answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Hungarian forward Attila Kovacs (203-85) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Horsholm. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Svendborg cruised to the opening win in the quarterfinal series. The game without a history. Svendborg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a very good performance for U.S. Virgin Islands power forward Gregory Washington (208-84, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. American power forward Donald Rutherford (199-87, college: Catawba) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Richard Delk (193-86, college: Troy) added 21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Vaerlose. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.

Team FOG Naestved (Ligaen) signed 21-year old Belizean forward Devin Daly (193-91kg-95, agency: Duran International). He just graduated from L.Superior (NCAA2). Svendborg Rabbits (Ligaen) signed 28-year old Nigerien center Roger Aboubakar Zaki (214-88). He played most recently at St Quentin in French ProB. The previous (14-15) season Aboubakar Zaki played at Lille Metropole (also in ProB) where in 27 games he had 4.4ppg and 2.6rpg. His team made it to the French Cup final in 2009.
