SISU - Randers 70-80

Randers celebrated the third consecutive win over SISU and advanced into the semis. After very bad start, SISU stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 3 points 46-43. But it was not enough and Randers took back the control in second half. It was a great evening for American forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 23 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The former international swingman Chris Nielsen (192-85) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Mikael Nielsen (178-90) with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American swingman Mickey Dennis (190-78, college: JMU) scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Horsens IC - Naestved 110-93

Horsens IC made it look easy as they cruised past Naestved for the third straight win in the series. The game was mostly controlled by Horsens IC. Naestved was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Horsens IC players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a great evening for American center Keane Thomann (211-89, college: Missouri So.) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). The former international guard Darko Jukic (198-90) helped adding 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Horsens IC players scored in double figures. Horsens IC's coach Arnel Dedic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Quinton Doggett (203, college: Southern) with 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the other American import power forward Joe Benjamin (200-83, college: W.Virginia St.) scored 17 points.

Bakken - Horsholm 90-68

Bakken dominated Horsholm to complete the sweep in the quarterfinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Bakken. Horsholm was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bakken forced 21 Horsholm turnovers. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international point guard Andreas Jakobsen (187-83, college: Columbia, MO) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 assists. Canadian forward Marvell Waithe (205-87, college: Arkansas) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Brenton Butler (190-87, college: Fordham) with 17 points and Hungarian forward Attila Kovacs (203-85) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Svendborg - Vaerlose 98-88

Svendborg held off Vaerlose to secure the semifinal birth. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-88. Svendborg dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Vaerlose's 40 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Vaerlose 41-28 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for U.S. Virgin Islands power forward Gregory Washington (208-84, college: Hofstra) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international guard Adama Darboe (190-86) contributed with 21 points and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) answered with 28 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the other American import guard Richard Delk (193-86, college: Troy) added 26 points in the effort for Vaerlose. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Svendborg have extended the contract of Claus Magaard (194-F/G-86). The guard had a solid season with the Rabbits. He tallied 8.0 points, 2.9 boards, 1.1 assists per game in Ligaen last season. It will be the ninth season with the Rabbits for Claus Magaard. He was Danish Ligaen champion and two-times Cup winner with the team.    [read more]

Svendborg extend co-operation with Craig Pedersen - May 23, 2013

Craig Pedersen will remain the head coach of Svendborg. The Rabbits signed a new deal with their long-time head coach. The contract is meant for four seasons. Craig Pedersen has been working with the Rabbits since 2003. He led the team to two Danish Cup titles in 2008 and 2012. Svendborg also claimed the Ligaen title in 2010.
