26-year old power forward Davie Champagnie (206-F/C-90) had a great game in the last round for Stevnsgade and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 24. He had a double-double of 22 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Randers (#7, 9-15) 106-92. Stevnsgade maintains the 8th position in Danish league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 21 games and recorded just one victory. Champagnie turned to be Stevnsgade's top player in his first season with the team. Martin Methodist College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Champagnie is in league's top in points (9th best: 16.4ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 10.0rpg) and averages solid 51.1% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Tanner McGrew (203-F-93, agency: Duran International) of SISU. He is American forward in his first season at SISU. In the last game McGrew recorded impressive double-double of 20 points and 18 rebounds. It was enough for SISU to edge the higher-ranked Horsens IC (#1, 19-3) by 5 points 91-86. SISU's 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 10-13 record. McGrew is a newcomer at SISU and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.9ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 10.7rpg and 3.6apg.
Third place about best performers goes to another Stevnsgade's star - forward Alonzo Brooks (201-PF-84). Brooks scored 28 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Stevnsgade, helping his team with a 106-92 easy win against slightly higher-ranked Randers (#7, 9-15). Stevnsgade can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-21 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Brooks he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Brooks has a very solid season. In 2 games in Denmark he scored 16.5ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Chris Nielsen (193-G/F-85) of Randers - 32 points and 5 assists 5. Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-G-93) of Bakken - 31 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Gabriel Lundberg (193-G-94) of Horsens IC - 12 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists 7. Dan Trist (206-F-92) of Horsens IC - 23 points and 4 rebounds 8. Thomas Laerke (195-G/F-91) of Bakken - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Adjehi Baru (206-F-91) of SISU - 17 points and 12 rebounds 10. Derrick Wilson (185-PG-92) of SISU - 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
