Baru's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - Mar 8, 2017

Adjehi Baru
25-year old forward Adjehi Baru (206-F-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for SISU and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27.
He had a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Stevnsgade (#8, 1-25) 79-73. SISU maintains the 6th position in Danish league. SISU is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-15 record. In the team's last game Baru had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be SISU's top player in his first season with the team. College of Charleston graduate has very impressive stats this year. Baru is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 8.4rpg) and averages solid 54.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Jyles Smith (209-PF-92) of Horsholm 79ers. He is American forward in his first season at Horsholm. In the last game Smith recorded impressive double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Of course Horsholm cruised to a 67-58 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Svendborg (#4, 13-13). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Horsholm consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. His team's 14-12 record is not bad at all. Smith is a newcomer at Horsholm and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Davie Champagnie (206-F/C-90, agency: SPORTlab Agency) of Stevnsgade (#8). Champagnie showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, thirteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. Despite Champagnie's great performance Stevnsgade lost 73-79 to slightly higher-ranked SISU (#6, 12-15). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Stevnsgade can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-25 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Champagnie he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Champagnie has individually a great season in Denmark. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.5ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 10.0rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Dan Trist (206-F-92) of Horsens IC - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Derrick Wilson (185-PG-92) of SISU - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
6. Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-G-93) of Bakken - 23 points and 3 rebounds
7. Phillip Nolan (210-C/F-93) of Naestved - 20 points and 5 rebounds
8. Tanner McGrew (203-F-93) of SISU - 10 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Gabriel Lundberg (193-G-94) of Horsens IC - 21 points and 6 assists
10. Harding NaNa (203-F-81) of Svendborg - 16 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
