KML regular season just ended. Tartu Ulikool claimed the top position in the standings.



Valga (#8) forced the game against KK Parnu (#7) into an overtime, but lost by two points 83-85 on Friday night. The game took place in Valga. But the guests from Parnu were better at the end. It was a great evening for Rannar Raap who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Valga's coach Varis Krumins rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. KK Parnu maintains seventh place with 4-24 record. Valga lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 20 points and 12 rebounds by Matt Shaw of Tln Kalev.

Valga - Parnu 83-85 OT

Valga (#8) forced the game against KK Parnu (#7) into an overtime, but lost by two points 83-85 on Friday night. The game took place in Valga. But the guests from Parnu were better at the end. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 22-18 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. KK Parnu forced 25 Valga turnovers. It was a great evening for swingman Rannar Raap (189-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Power forward Taavi Hamarsalu (199-89) helped adding 18 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Latvian guard Reinis Strupovics (192-87) with 22 points and 4 assists and Latvian center Lauris Blaus (204-90, agency: FCM) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Valga's coach Varis Krumins rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. KK Parnu maintains seventh place with 4-24 record. Valga lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games.

Rather expected game in Tallinn where 3rd placed Kalev/Cramo (23-5) was edged by first ranked Tartu Ulikool (25-3) 76-74 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 24-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kalev/Cramo was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for international guard Sten-Timmu Sokk (181-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 4 assists. American forward Bill Amis (205-87, college: Hawaii) helped adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. Five Tartu Ulikool players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Latvian guard Armands Skele (192-83) with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and international forward Joosep Toome (202-85) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tartu Ulikool have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 25-3 record. Kalev/Cramo lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the third position with five games lost.

Tartu Ulikool - TTU 84-75

Rather predictable result when first ranked Tartu Ulikool (25-3) defeated at home 5th ranked TTU (12-16) 84-75 on Tuesday. TTU trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 22-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 75-84 at the end of the game. It was a great evening for the former international guard Silver Leppik (188-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. International power forward Rain Raadik (208-89) helped adding 11 points and 9 rebounds. Tartu Ulikool's coach Gert Kullamae used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Illimar Pilk (195-88) with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international power forward Kristjan Makke (205-81, college: W.Illinois) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Tartu Ulikool and five TTU players scored in double figures. Tartu Ulikool have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 25-3 record. TTU at the other side keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost.

Tln Kalev - Rapla 99-72

There was a minor upset in Tallinn where 4th placed Rapla (14-14) was rolled over by sixth ranked Tln Kalev (12-16) 99-72 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Tln Kalev. Rapla was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tln Kalev forced 23 Rapla turnovers. It was a great evening for American forward Matt Shaw (203-88, college: UNLV) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Brandis Raley-Ross (188-87, college: S.Carolina) helped adding 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Tln Kalev players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Sven Kaldre (197-91) with 21 points and center Rauno Nurger (207-93) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tln Kalev have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with TTU. Rapla lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 14 games lost.

Everything went according to plan when second ranked BC Rakvere (19-9) beat at home 5th ranked TTU (12-16) 91-76 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by BC Rakvere. TTU was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for forward Janis Vahter (195-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Latvian point guard Rinalds Sirsnins (186-85) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five BC Rakvere players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Kiur Akenparg (190-88) with 22 points and forward Illimar Pilk (195-88) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BC Rakvere have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 19-9 record having six points less than leader Tartu Ulikool. TTU at the other side keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost.
