BC Rakvere Tarvas made a huge upset by beating Tartu University/Rock 90:84 (43:41) in the first semifinal of BBL Cup. The hosts were outscored 2:10 in the opening minutes but regained the consciousness and took the lead 15:14 with 8 minutes played. TU/Rock on the first quarter 23:20, though. Justin Ingram (185-PG-85, agency: Two Points, college: Toledo) had 11 points, already. But during the next 23 minutes he made only 2 points. Tarvas made a 9:0 run in the 2nd quarter to go ahead 39:34 and they won the first half by 2 points.
Third quarter became the decisive one: the hosts started it with a 5:0 run and ende it with another 13:3 run to win the quarter 28:12!
In 4th, the blowout continued as the hosts went ahead 77:53. With 8 minutes to play, it was 80:62 but it wasn't over, yet. TU/Rock made a 10:0 run to cut the deficit to only 8 points with 5 minutes left. Baskets by Egidijus Dimsa (205-C-85) and Kristo Saage (185-PG-85) held the guests in competition (87:81 with 2 minutes to play) but the hosts held on to take the important victory and step into the final of BBL Cup.

Reimo Tamm (185-PG-84) led the winners with 18 points, 5 rbs and 6 assists. Maris Laksa (202-F-81, agency: Court Side, college: Providence) added 16, Kaido Saks (207-F-86) 11 and Clarence Jackson (193-G-89, college: Siena) 10 points. For TU/Rock, Ingram contributed 20 points, 6 rbs and assists. Dimsa added 18 and Saage 14 points.

On the 99th birthday of Estonian Republic, a historic episode was written in Estonian, European as well as world basketball history. 26 years after Dino and Andrea Meneghin faced each other in Italian league, a father played against son in a top-tier league. The all-time top scorer of Estonian basketball league, Valmo Kriisa (192-PG-74) (42) and a member of Estonian U16 NT Kerr Kriisa(187-PG-01) (16) faced each other for the first time as professionals as Tartu Ulikool hosted Valga in KML.    [read more]

BC Valga-Valka/Maks&Moorits (Alexela KML) signed American point guard Deandre Mathieu (175-73kg, college: Minnesota, agency: Two Points). He played recently at Iowa Energy (D-League) in the U.S., but was released by the team earlier this month. In 6 D-League games he had 4.7ppg, 1.5rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg this season. Milka's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - 2 days ago
24-year old center Dominykas Milka (203-C-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team TU/Rock and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18. He had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed TLU/Kalev (#6, 6-12) with 47-point margin 110-63. It allowed TU/Rock to consolidate first place in the Estonian league.
