Budivelnyk edge BC Kalev/Cramo in St Petersburg at the start of the Kondrashin and Belov Cup. The Ukrainian team grabbed 74:61 win to enter the Final game tomorrow.
The Estonian team won the first period 19-18 and added 20-17 in the second frame. They could not however follow Budivelnyk in the second half. The latter responded with two victories to clinch the total success. The Ukrainian team won the third quarter 19-11 and finished the game with 20-11.
Sergiy Gorbenko (202-F-85) top-scored for the winners with 16 points and Georgi Tsintsadze (192-PG-86) added 15. Dainius Salenga (197-F-77) followed them with 13 points. Gregor Arbet (195-G/F-83) replied with 15 points and Gary Wilkinson (204-F/C-82, college: Utah St.) added 12. Bamba Fall (216-C-86, college: SMU) collected 8 points and 7 rebounds in defeat.
In another game Spartak overcame Ventspils 66:59.

Tallinna Ulikool/Kalev (Alexela KML) agreed terms with 23-year old American power forward Josiah Heath (206-104kg-93, college: Canisius, agency: Inception Sports). He played last season at Aris Leeuwarden in Dutch Eredivisie. In 27 games he had 13.9ppg, 8.3rpg (#5 in the league) and 1.3spg. Defending champion BC Kalev/Cramo Tallinn (Alexela KML) re-signed 25-year old international guard Martin Dorbek (194-85kg-91). He has played there for the last two seasons. Dorbek managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). In 26 Alexela KML games he averaged 5.9ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.4apg and 1.9spg. He helped them to win the league title and the cup.
