Tartu Ulikool and TTU taste BBL victories in the start of 2012/2013 season.
Tartu Ulikool improved to 2-0 record in Group B. At first they beat Latvian Jelgava 96:62. Tartu Ulikool led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Tartu Ulikool forced 26 Jelgava turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Jelgava helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Silver Leppik (189-G-83) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 steals. Ivan Nelyubov (207-C-88) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Tartu Ulikool players scored in double figures. Sandis Silavs (195-G-88) answered with 10 points and 5 assists and swingman Edgars Krumins (194-G/F-86) added 5 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Jelgava.
Later Tartu Ulikool edged Liepaja 83:60.
TTU meanwhile beat Rapla 87:66. One of the most interesting games of round 2 was a derby match between two teams from Estonia. The game took place in Tallinn where TTU outleveled visiting Rapla. TTU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. TTU outrebounded Rapla 37-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Rapla was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Arnold Arnold (208-C-86, college: Lewis-Clark St.) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Erik Keedus chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five TTU players scored in double figures. Raido Ringmets (206-C/F-83) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and guard Martin Paasoja (190-G-93) scored 9 points.

Rasham Suarez (190-G-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Rapla and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 23. The 24-year old guard had the game-high 33 points adding eight rebounds and four assists for Rapla in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Valga (#6, 8-17) 80-78. There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in Alexela KML. Sixth-ranked Valga (8-17) made lots of trouble for third ranked Rapla (16-9) on Saturday. Rapla managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valga. Valga was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Rapla made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game....   [read more]
