24-year old center Dominykas Milka (203-C-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team TU/Rock and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18. He had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed TLU/Kalev (#6, 6-12) with 47-point margin 110-63. It allowed TU/Rock to consolidate first place in the Estonian league. TU/Rock have a solid 16-2 record. Milka turned to be TU/Rock's top player in his first season with the team. College of Saint Rose graduate has very impressive stats this year. Milka is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 8.3rpg) and averages solid 56.9% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Valmo Kriisa (192-PG-74) of Valga. He is Estonian guard in his first season at Valga. In the last game Kriisa recorded impressive 26 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course he led Valga to another comfortable win outscoring Noorteliiga (#9, 0-14) 108-53. This victory allowed Valga to move up to 7th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-13 record. Kriisa is a newcomer at Valga and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
Third place about best performers goes to another Valga's star - center Rain Raadik (208-C-89). Raadik showcased his all-around game by recording 12 points, fifteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was another key player of Valga, helping his team with a 108-53 easy win against Noorteliiga (#9, 0-14). The chances of Valga not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 13 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Raadik could try to bring Valga's a little bit higher in the standings. Raadik has a very solid season. In 19 games in Estonia he scored 5.5ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Ivars Rihards Zvigurs (198-SF-95) of Valga - 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists 5. Thomas van der Mars (208-C-90) of Rapla - 12 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Sandis Silavs (194-G-88) of Valga - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Tanel Sokk (187-PG-85) of TU/Rock - 15 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists 8. Taavi Jurkatamm (201-SG-97) of Noorteliiga - 16 points and 6 rebounds 9. Indrek Kajupank (200-F-88) of Rapla - 14 points and 6 rebounds 10. Sven Kaldre (197-F/G-91) of Rapla - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
