Talented Sten Olmre (192-SG-95) put on an amazing game in the last round for TTU and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17. The 21-year old shooting guard had the game-high 37 points adding five rebounds and three assists for TTU in his team's victory, helping them to beat Rapla (#4, 10-6) 85-78. Thanks to this victory TTU moved-up to the 5th position in Estonian Alexela KML. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. TTU will need more victories to improve their 10-7 record. In the team's last game Olmre had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be TTU's top player in his first season with the team. Olmre has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 18.1ppg) and assists (7th best: 4.0apg).
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old Croatian center Domagoj Bubalo (212-C-91) of Parnu. Bubalo impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds. Of course Parnu cruised to a 99-89 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Valga (#8, 5-13). This victory allowed Parnu to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 11-9 record is not bad at all. Bubalo is one of the most experienced players at Parnu and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.6ppg (#8). He also registered 8.0 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Reinis Strupovics (190-G-87) of Valga (#8). Strupovics got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for five assists. Despite Strupovics' great performance Valga lost 89-99 to the higher-ranked Parnu (#3, 11-9). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Valga can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 5-13 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Strupovics he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Strupovics has individually a great season in Estonia. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.3ppg (4th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Domen Bratoz (189-PG-93) of Rapla - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Thomas van der Mars (208-C-90) of Rapla - 19 points and 12 rebounds 6. Mihkel Kirves (190-F-96) of Parnu - 28 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Joonas Jarvelainen (202-F-90) of TTU - 29 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Martin Paasoja (191-SG-93) of Rapla - 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Ivars Rihards Zvigurs (198-SF-95) of Valga - 20 points and 4 rebounds 10. Rain Veideman (192-G-91) of Kalev/Cramo - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
