Rapla (2-3) outlasted Valga (3-4) in overtime by three points 69-66 on Tuesday night. The game took place in Valga. But the guests from Rapla were better at the end. Rait-Riivo Laane stepped up and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Rapla maintains sixth place with 2-3 record. Valga lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. Rapla will face league's second-placed BC Rakvere at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valga will play against Tln Kalev in Tallinn.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 21 points and 10 rebounds by Frank Elegar of Kalev/Cramo.



Tln Kalev - Tarvas 49-78

Very expected game in Tallinn where 8th ranked Tln Kalev (1-4) was crushed by third ranked BC Rakvere (4-1) 78-49 on Wednesday. The game without a history. BC Rakvere led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. BC Rakvere outrebounded Tln Kalev 42-29 including 18 on the offensive glass. Naturalized American forward Renato Lindmets (200-84, college: Westfield St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Reimo Tamm (185-84) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Five BC Rakvere players scored in double figures. Forward Erik Luts (197-86) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and guard Raido Roos (187-84) scored 11 points. Tln Kalev's coach Kalle Klandorf gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. BC Rakvere have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Tln Kalev at the other side dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. BC Rakvere will face Rapla (#6) on the road in the next round. Tln Kalev will play against Valga.

Valga cut a 20-point halftime deficit to tie the game at the end of regular time. But they lost overtime period 6-9. Rapla made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (178-93) stepped up and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Illimar Pilk (195-88) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Rapla players scored in double figures. Latvian guard Edgars Cunda (195-84, agency: Court Side) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-90) scored 17 points. There was a small surprise in Tallinn where fourth ranked Kalev/Cramo (3-1) defeated 4th placed Valga (3-4) 75-69 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Valga was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Gary Wilkinson (205-82, college: Utah St.) stepped up and scored 24 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and international Gert Dorbek (193-85) chipped in 15 points. Kalev/Cramo's coach Aivar Kuusmaa used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Latvian center Raitis Grafs (208-81, college: Valparaiso) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Latvian guard Edgars Cunda (195-84, agency: Court Side) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Valga players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Valga lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. Kalev/Cramo will have a break next round. Valga will play at home against Tln Kalev (#9) in Tallinn.

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Hito/Johvi (1-4) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Tln Kalev (1-4) 68-61 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Tln Kalev forced 19 Hito/Johvi turnovers and outrebounded them 43-30 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Italian guard Marc Campbell (180-86, college: N.Carolina) stepped up and scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Nigerian forward Ike Okoye (206, college: Boise St.) chipped in 11 points and 15 rebounds. Four Tln Kalev players scored in double figures. point guard Sander Saare (182-94) responded with 15 points and 9 assists and swingman Markus Laanemets (194-92) scored 12 points. Hito/Johvi's coach Priit Sternhof rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tln Kalev maintains eighth place with 1-4 record, which they share with defeated Hito/Johvi. It was Hito/Johvi's fourth loss in a row. Tln Kalev will face higher ranked Valga (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Kalev/Cramo forced 24 Hito/Johvi turnovers and outrebounded them 48-31 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hito/Johvi was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. U.S. Virgin Islands center Frank Elegar (208-86, college: Drexel) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners and American power forward Gary Wilkinson (205-82, college: Utah St.) chipped in 22 points. Five Kalev/Cramo players scored in double figures. Guard Siim Laur (189-87) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Sander Saare (182-94) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Hito/Johvi lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Kalev/Cramo will have a break next round. Hito/Johvi will play at home against Valga (#4).

Sharks Antibes (ProA) agreed terms with 29-year old American guard Morris Curry (181-77kg-87, college: Providence, agency: Inception Sports). He played last season at Kalev/Cramo in Estonian Alexela KML. Curry managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 14 Alexela KML games he had 10.1ppg, 2.5rpg and 3.8apg. 26-year old center Thomas van der Mars (208-C-90) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Rapla and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. He had a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds, while his team crushed Tarvas (#7, 3-6) with 20-point margin 81-61. Rapla is placed at 2nd position in Estonian league. Alexela KML Round 9: Kalev/Cramo hands first loss to TU/Rock - 4 days ago

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of TU/Rock (7-1) in Tallinn on Thursday night. Visitors were rolled over by fourth ranked Kalev/Cramo (5-2) 86-63.
