Brandis Raley-Ross claims Estonian KML weekly honour - Feb 17, 2013

Raley-Ross
American Brandis Raley-Ross (188-G-87) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Tarvas and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 25-year old guard got a double-double of 12 points and twelve assists, while his team crushed Tln Kalev (#8, 5-18) with 16-point margin 82-66. It allowed Tarvas to jump to the first place in the Estonian KML. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Tarvas has a very solid 17-5 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Raley-Ross turned to be Tarvas' top player in his first season with the team. University of South Carolina graduate has very impressive stats this year. Raley-Ross is in league's top in points (3rd best: 15.8ppg), assists (8th best: 3.4apg) and averages solid 67.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old Nigerian forward Ike Okoye (206-F-86) of Tln Kalev. Okoye impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Tln Kalev lost that game 66-82 to the higher-ranked Tarvas (#1, 17-5). Tln Kalev managed to keep the same 8th spot in the standings. 18 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Tln Kalev managed to get this year. Okoye is a newcomer at Tln Kalev and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.3ppg (#9). He also registered 10.2 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was international center Rain Raadik (208-C-89) of Parnu (#7). Raadik scored 24 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Raadik's great performance Parnu lost 76-81 to slightly higher-ranked Rapla (#5, 9-11). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Parnu not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 12 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Raadik could try to bring Parnu's a little bit higher in the standings. Raadik has individually a great season in Estonia. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.0rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Bamba Fall (217-C-86) of Kalev/Cramo - 17 points and 11 rebounds
5. Ike Okoye (206-F-86) of Tln Kalev - 12 points and 15 rebounds
6. Martin Dorbek (194-G-91) of Rapla - 21 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Illimar Pilk (195-F-88) of Rapla - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Timo Eichfuss (200-F-88) of TU/Rock - 19 points and 9 rebounds
9. Andre Parn (202-F-77) of Rapla - 14 points and 5 rebounds
10. Maris Laksa (205-F-81) of Tarvas - 19 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
