BC Kalev/Cramo took a huge 71:54 win against Pieno Zvaigzde Pasvalys in 1st game of Baltic Basketball League quarterfinal in Kalev Sports Hall. The hosts dominated the game from the beginning, trailing for only 25 seconds (0:3) in the first quarter. Gary Wilkinson (205-F/C-82, college: Utah St.) scored 6 and Gert Dorbek (193-SG-85) added 5 in opening quarter and Kalev/Cramo led 19:9 after 10 minutes. In 2nd, the guests made a 7:0 run and decreased the gap to 6 (25:19). But baskets by Bamba Fall (217-C-86, college: SMU) ended the first half wigth a 6:0 run and 31:19.

After the first quarter, the gap was 18, already. Fall and Elegar made some huge dunks. On the negative side, Cepukaitis and Elegar had a little thrash-talking and pushing and were awarded a technicals. In 4th, the hosts went up by 21 but three-pointers by Hughes and Sinica helped the guests to close the gap a little.

Wilkinson led the winners with 15 points. Fall added 13, Elegar 12 and Skele 10 points. The 2-point shots made the difference today - the hosts made 52%, the guests only 32%. Vasiliauskas scored 16 for the guests.

Defending champion BC Kalev/Cramo Tallinn (Alexela KML) inked 30-year old Bulgarian ex-international power forward Cedric Simmons (206-107kg-86, college: North Carolina State). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Simmons already started the season at Buducnost in Montenegrin Erste Liga. Dutch Thomas van der Mars (208-C-90) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Rapla and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8. The 26-year old center had a double-double of 17 points and twenty four rebounds, while his team beat Parnu (#7, 3-5) 75-62. Rapla is placed at 2nd position in Estonian Alexela KML. Alexela KML Round 8: TLU/Kalev wins their first game - 7 days ago

TLU/Kalev can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Tallinn, where they outplayed Noorteliiga (0-6) 87-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by TLU/Kalev. Noorteliiga managed to win fourth quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
