Joonas
Jarvelainen
26-year old forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-F-90, agency: Octagon Europe) had a very impressive game in the last round for TTU and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 15.
He had a double-double of 25 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Valga (#8, 5-12) 98-87. Thanks to this victory TTU moved-up to the 5th position in Estonian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. TTU will need more victories to improve their 8-6 record. In the team's last game Jarvelainen had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be TTU's top player in his first season with the team. Jarvelainen has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 18.7ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 9.1rpg) and averages solid 55.6% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Ivars Rihards Zvigurs (198-SF-95) of Valga. He is Latvian in his first season at Valga. In the last game Zvigurs recorded impressive double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Valga lost that game 87-98 to the higher-ranked TTU (#5, 8-6). This loss caused Valga to drop to 8th position in the standings. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Valga managed to get this year. Zvigurs is a newcomer at Valga and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to center Thomas van der Mars (208-C-90) of Rapla (#3). van der Mars scored 22 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). Despite van der Mars' great performance Rapla lost 73-79 to #1 ranked TU/Rock. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Rapla needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 4 lost games. van der Mars has a great season in Estonia. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.6ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 14.2rpg (#1 in league). He also has 1.2bpg and FGP: 63.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Mark Tollefsen (206-PF-92) of Kalev/Cramo - 29 points and 8 rebounds
5. Venky Jois (202-F-93) of TU/Rock - 16 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Madis Soodla (205-F/C-97) of Noorteliiga - 17 points and 11 rebounds
7. Mihkel Kirves (190-F-96) of Parnu - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Sten Olmre (192-SG-95) of TTU - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Siim-Markus Post (183-PG-97) of Tarvas - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Rannar Raap (191-G/F-92) of Parnu - 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Estonian Alexela KML round 22 best performance: Martin Paasoja - 6 days ago
International Shooting guard Martin Paasoja (191-SG-93) put on an amazing game in the last round for Rapla, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 22. The 23-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, seven rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Parnu (#4, 13-11) 93-91. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Rapla maintains the 3rd position in Estonian Alexela KML. They would have been even better if th...   [read more]
