Le Mans wrapped up their European season in style scoring the second victory in Group I. Marc Salyers (205-F-79, college: Samford) came up with 25 points and 8 rebounds to pace the hosts. Aris will now take on Valencia in the quarterfinal series. Le Mans entered the game strongly and earned a 15:8 lead midway through the period. But Aris were ready for the challenge and responded with ten unanswered points to grab a 24:22 lead ten minutes into the encounter. The teams traded baskets throughout the second period with neither side able to dominate. The halftime scoreboard read 37:37. Jeremy Richardson and Dikoudis helped the visitors pull in front early in the third frame. But Le Mans soon erased the deficit and surged ahead early in the final quarter. Spencer made it 67:59 for the home team. Aris got closer for several times before Antoine Diot (191-G-89) went perfect from the stripe in the dying seconds sealing the deal for Le Mans. Antoine Diot finished with 18 points for Le Mans. Maleye NDoye added 12 points for the winners. Kiki Clark accounted for 18 points, 6 boards and 4 assists for Aris. Jeremy Richardson netted 14 points in defeat.
DKV Joventut - ALBA 62-68 ALBA Berlin punched the ticket into the EuroCup quarterfinals. They claimed a decisive victory in the final round of action in Last 16 Group I. The German team outgunned Joventut in Badalona to set up their quarterfinal clash with Hapoel Jerusalem. It was a do-or-die battle for both teams. Joventut seemed the better side throughout the opening three quarters before ALBA came from behind in the final stanza and silenced the fans at the Palau Olimpic De Badalona. ALBA opened the encounter with nine points in a row before Joventut came back from slumber and rallied in front. Uros Tripkovic capped the frame with two free throws giving Joventut a 15:13 lead at the first break. The second period turned into a low-scoring battle as the teams combined for only 18 points. Joventut had the upper hand as they posted a 26:20 advantage at the interval. Luka Bogdanovic stretched the margin at 11 points early in the third quarter but ALBA managed to strike back. Derrick Byars (202-G/F-84, agency: Priority Sports, college: Vanderbilt) exploded with a pair of triples to keep the visitors in the game. ALBA entered the fourth frame down by 7 points. Adam Chubb and Sekulic opened the final stanza strongly putting ALBA in charge. Luka Bogdanovic drew things level but Adam Chubb and Derrick Byars stepped up again to establish a 56:49 lead for the visiting team. Uros Tripkovic and Luka Bogdanovic exploded with three-pointers but it was too late for Joventut to save the encounter. ALBA stayed calm and sealed the win from the stripe. Immanuel McElroy (193-G-80, college: Cincinnati) scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for ALBA. Derrick Byars added 11 points in the win. Uros Tripkovic accounted for 17 points and 6 boards for Joventut. Luka Bogdanovic netted 10 points in defeat.
Group J
Valencia BC - Unics 91-81 Serhiy Lishchuk (210-C/F-82, agency: Beo Basket) scored 18 points to lead Valencia past Unics in Spain. The victory helped the Spanish team clinch the top spot in the EuroCup Last 16 Group J. Valencia will now take on Aris in the tournaments quarterfinal. Unics ended their campaign at the third position in the pool. Unics accounted for the first four points in the game before Valencia took over. The hosts surged ahead and soon Perovic triggered a 6:0 run that put the hosts up by 7. Unics got closer before Claver hit a buzzer-beating triple for a 24:19 advantage. Serhiy Lishchuk exploded with five quick points early in the second term as Valencia opened a double-digit advantage. Unics bounced back cutting the deficit to 5 points but Valencia kept on persisting as they established a 46:34 lead at halftime. The margin grew at 13-point mark early in the third stanza but once again Unics found the way to strike back as they went on an 8:0 run to stay close. Valencia burst out with a 20:3 run to close the period and suddenly they were in full control 73:55. Unics cut the distance to 15 points in the fourth frame but Thomas Kelati silenced the visitors with a treble. Unics fought till the final seconds cutting the deficit but it was too late to save the game. Rafael Martinez (191-G-82) provided 14 points for Valencia. Thomas Kelati and Matt Nielsen delivered 13 points apiece in the victory. Maciej Lampe replied with 20 points and 11 rebounds for Unics. Terrell Lyday had 16 points in defeat.
Galatasaray - Hap.Jerusalem 98-111 Hapoel Jerusalem finished the EuroCup Last 16 action with an impressive road win over Galatasaray. Yuval Naimy (188-G-85, agency: Arik Krayn Services) scored 27 points and dished out 7 assists to lead Hapoel to the fourth win in Group J. The Jerusalem outfit reached the tournament quarterfinal where they are slated to take on ALBA. Galatasaray in the meantime suffered the sixth straight defeat in the competition. Hapoel stormed into the game taking a 6:0 lead. Galatasaray got closer but just to watch the visitors go on an 8:0 rally for a 22:12 lead. Hapoel maintained the advantage building a 32:22 advantage at the first break. Hapoel stayed in front for some time before the Turkish team bounced back. Darius Washington triggered a 9:0 run as Galatasaray came within one point. Rancik finally put the home team in charge before Dijon Thompson (201-G/F-83, college: UCLA) knotted things up at 51 heading into the dressing room. Galatasaray pulled in front early in the third quarter. Michael J Wilkinson, Jasaitis and Washington kept the home team in the drivers seat throughout the third term. Galatasaray entered the fourth period ahead by 7 points 74:67. But the hosts conceded a stunning 0:16 spurt from the visitors as Hapoel put a firm grip on the lead and raced to the win at the end. Chester Simmons scored 25 points for Hapoel. Dijon Thompson added 20 points in the winning effort. Michael J Wilkinson responded with 27 points for Galatasaray. Darius Washington had 22 points, 6 assists and 4 boards in defeat.
Group K
Panellinios - Bizkaia Bilbao 77-70 Panellinios defeated visiting Bilbao but still did not prevent the Basque team from claiming the top position in the group. Devin Smith (196-G/F-81, college: Virginia) nailed 18 points to pace the hosts as they clinched the second spot. Ian Vougioukas (212-C/F-85, college: St.Louis) added 14 points for the winners. Javier Salgado accounted for 12 points and 6 assists for Bilbao. Axel Hevelle netted 11 points in the losing effort.
Benetton TV - Brose Baskets 86-70 Benetton entertained the crowd at the Palaverde with a comfortable win over Bamberg in the final round of EuroCup Last 16 stage. Both teams entered the game with no chance of reaching quarterfinals. Benetton proved the stronger side ending Group K campaign on a high note. Benetton thus caught up with Bamberg at 2-4 record and occupied the third position in the ladder. The hosts quickly established an 11:5 lead but Anton Gavel was there to answer. The Slovakian guard fired 5 points to give the visitors a 12:11 lead. The first frame stayed close and the teams finished tied at 20. Sandro Nicevic (210-C-76, agency: Beo Basket) and Davor Kus stepped up for Benetton in the second period giving the home team a comfortable advantage. Mark Worthington fought bravely for Bamberg as he helped the German team got within one late in the half. K.C. Rivers capped the half with a three-pointer securing a 44:40 lead for Benetton. The hosts entered the second half firing from all guns. They burst out with a 17:0 run to leave Bamberg far behind. The Italian team controlled the game from now building a 16-point cushion before the fourth stanza. Sandro Nicevic boosted the gap to 22 points early in the quarter and Benetton did not look back en route to the win. Sandro Nicevic scored 22 points and collected 10 rebounds to lead the effort. Gary Neal (193-G-84, college: Towson) contributed 16 points, while Davor Kus had 14 in the win. Tibor Pleiss and Mark Worthington finished with 18 points each in the loss.
Group L
CEZ Nymburk - T.Telekom 84-94 Nymburk surrendered against visiting Turk Telekom in the final round of EuroCup Last 16 stage. The loss however did not prevent the Czech champions from advancing into the Last 8 of the tournament. Turk Telekom celebrated just the second win in Group L and stayed in the fourth place in the pool. Nymburk will now face Bilbao in the quarterfinals. Turk Telekom had no other burden but to play for the win and so they did. Yarangume fired 22 points to pace the charge. Nymburk looked the better side in the starting frame. The hosts accumulated a 24:18 lead ten minutes into the encounter. Arthur Lee and Ron Lewis dragged the hosts to 10-point advantage early in the second period. Turk Telekom ignited a 15:5 run midway through the second stanza as the visitors tied things up at 37. Nymburk eked out a 43:41 lead at the interval. The lead changed hands for several times throughout the third stanza before Demond Mallet (186-G-78, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: Mc Neese St.) stepped up for Turk Telekom. He notched 5 points giving the Ankara team a 71:64 lead with ten minutes to go. The gap grew at 7 points before Nymburk bounced back. The hosts cut the deficit to a single point however Demond Mallet dropped five more points and Bekir Yarangume (198-F-79) drained a triple to seal the victory for Turk Telekom. Ersin Dagli netted 16 points for the visitors. Demond Mallet contributed 14 points for Turk Telekom. Arthur Lee notched 22 points for Nymburk. Ron Lewis posted 17 points in defeat.
Gran Canaria - Crvena Zvez. 81-58 Gran Canaria qualified into the EuroCup quarterfinals. The Spanish team held off Crvena Zvezda in the decisive clash in Group L to advance. Crvena Zvezda have been left outside the tournaments Last 8. Will McDonald (207-C-79, college: S.Florida) scored 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead the charge. Jaycee Carroll (188-G-83, agency: Priority Sports) helped the hosts to an 8:3 start to the game. Marko Keselj, Oliver Stevic and Radivojevic drew things level 14 late in the opening frame. But Gran Canaria eked out an 18:15 lead ten minutes into the game. The hosts opened the second frame with six points in a row to stretch the margin. Gran Canaria controlled the encounter and built a 17-point lead late in the half. Videnov and Oliver Stevic answered with five points in a row for Crvena Zvezda as the Serbian team went into the dressing room down by 15. Jaycee Carroll stepped up for the hosts early in the third stanza. He helped Gran Canaria accumulate a 20-point lead and the Spanish outfit maintained it well enough to enjoy a 64:42 buffer heading into the fourth frame. Marko Keselj opened the fourth stanza with a three-pointer but Jaycee Carroll, Will McDonald and Sanders silenced the visitors for good in this one. Jaycee Carroll provided 13 points, while Daniel Kickert added 10 points in the winning effort. Oliver Stevic responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds for Crvena Zvezda. Marko Keselj contributed 11 points in defeat.

Joventut quickly found the replacement for Alfonso Alonso . The Badalona outfit announced the signing of Jose Vicente Hernandez for the next two and a half seasons. The 51-year-old Spanish specialist worked with the Spanish National Team back in 2006 and 2007. He was at the helm of Spain at the World Championship in Japan and the EuroBasket in Spain. The 30-year old guard is coming to Ankara from the Los Angeles Clippers, where he spent previous year and a half. This season he appeared in 33 NBA games averaging 4.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists. His season-high was 14 points against the New Orleans Hornets. In 2007/08, Ricky Davis had a nice role with Miami Heat averaging 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists for 82 games. A year before he was even better, but as a player of the Minnesota Timberwolves. At that season Davis collected 17 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 4.8 apg in 81 appearances. That was not his best NBA season, as Davis played two years for the Boston Celtics and three for the Cleveland Cavs. In 2002/03 he had impressive 20.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 5.5 apg and 1.6 spg for 79 games. In 2005 with Boston, Davis was the NBA Atlantic Division Champion. Turk Telekom currently has 11-9 score in TBL and there is 10 more rounds to be played in regular season. In EuroCup, the team will play one more game, but doesn't have a chance to advance as they registered just one win in five appearances so far. Their next rival in TBL is Bornova. In EuroCup, Turk Telekom will take on CEZ Nymburk.
