In new season there will be more clubs, instead of the 32 clubs that old format was have, in new format will be 48 club in Regular season phase. The size of the groups will grow from four to six teams, thus the number of guaranteed games for each club will increase from six to 10. Another innovation in this season will be that clubs will be divided into two regional conferences for the regular season in order to reduce travel times and cost of clubs. Top three teams in each group will advance in to the second phase, the Last32. Another important change in new format is that Euroleague clubs who don't qualify for the Euroleague top16 will join the remaning 24 in Eurocup in the last32 phase and in that phase of competition will be eight groups of four teams. Top two clubs in each group will advance to 1/8 finals, after that will play home and away games until only two teams are left and the 2013/14 Eurocup winner is crowned and earn right to play in Euroleague in season 2014/15.
The Eurocup competition expansion was approved in the ULEB and ECA General Assemblies held on 13-14 October 2011, but had not yet been implemented until the coming season.
