Russian women basketball lives
a golden age. After Spartak Moscow Region triumphed in Euroleague ten days
ago, also Dynamo Moscow concluded its European campaign with a trophy, the
Eurocup. After a confortable first-leg-win in Italy (74-61), in leg-2 the
Russian giants experienced the strength of Faenza as runner-up, especially
during the first half. But Dynamo after the break recovered a 7-points
deficit (28-35) to won at Dynamo Arena by a 20-points cushion (76-56),
150-117 in aggregate. Faenza proudly entered the game lead by Jokic and
Maria Chiara Franchini (182-G-79) (Ballardini did not play for injuriy),
but Ainars Zvirgzdins' athletes set the tempo in second half and went ahead
for good. Dynamo, lead by Anete Jekabsone-Zogota (22 points) and Rebekkah
Brunson (24 points + 13 rebounds), limited Faenza to only 6 points scored in
the fourth quarter, and controlled the game untill the final celebrations.
