FINAL: Khimky - Valencia 77-68 Khimky celebrated the EuroCup title at home court tonight. They outscored Valencia in a thrilling Final. Khimky also booked the Euroleague ticket for the next season. Khimky and Valencia tried to stay safe in the opening period. They stayed neck and neck throughout the first ten minutes. Khimky eked out a 16:15 lead after ten minutes. Khimky extended the lead in the second quarter. The hosts boosted the margin to as many as 7 points at the interval 37:30. But Valencia managed to revive the intrigue in the third frame. The Spaniards erased the deficit. Serhiy Lishchuk (210-C/F-82, agency: Beo Basket) knocked down eight points to put Valencia in charge 44:45. But Chris Quinn answered with a three-pointer to return the lead to Khimky. The home team managed to secure a 52:50 lead into the fourth frame. Claver hit a trey to put Valencia back in charge early in the final stanza. Zoran Planinic (199-G-82) returned the lead to Khimky in the next possession. But Valencia stayed close. Niklas Caner-Medley (203-F-83, agency: Beo Basket, college: Maryland) drained a three-pointer to tie things up at 66 with just over two minutes left. However it was the last success for the Spanish team. Khimky proved determination and calm in the key moments of the game. The home team capped regulation on an 11:2 run and sealed a triumphant victory at the end. Zoran Planinic accounted for 19 points, while Kresimir Loncar (210-F-83, agency: Alti Sport) added 14 points in the winning effort. Niklas Caner-Medley answered with 23 points and 11 rebounds for Valencia. Serhiy Lishchuk added 16 points in the loss.
3rd Place: Spartak SP - Lietuvos rytas 61-72 Lietuvos Rytas clinched the third position in EuroCup tournament. They overcame Spartak Saint Petersburg in the consolation final in Khimky tonight. Renaldas Seibutis (195-G-85) scored 21 points to lead the winners. Lietuvos Rytas took care of sloppy Spartak attitude in the first frame. The Lithuanian team stormed into the game taking a 24:10 lead after ten minutes. Spartak woke up in the second quarter. They stiffened their defence and started their comeback. The Russian team cut the deficit to 10 points at halftime 30:40. Lietuvos Rytas stayed alert in the third term keeping Spartak at distance. The Vilnius team secured a comfortable 11-point lead at the final intermission 55:44. Spartak got as close as four points 51:55 in the final frame but Renaldas Seibutis stepped up for the Lithuanian side and Lietuvos Rytas escaped with a tough win at the end. Aleksandar Rasic (194-G-84, agency: Beo Basket) accounted for 12 points, while Mindaugas Katelynas and Jonas Valanciunas posted 10 points each for the winners. Patrick Beverley (185-PG-88, college: Arkansas) answered with 18 points for Spartak SP. Vladimir Dragicevic had 17 points in the loss.

Spartak SP - Khimky 73-77 Khimky will play in the EuroCup Final. They defeated Spartak Saint Petersburg in a heart-stopping semifinal battle tonight. Khimky will take on Valencia in the title game tomorrow. Vitaly Fridzon (195-G-85, agency: Alti Sport) stepped up with 16 points to lead the winners. Khimky gave a warm welcome to the visiting Spartak in the first term. The hosts rushed ahead and built a 13-point lead after ten minutes. The margin grew at 14-point mark early in the second quarter. But Spartak gradually woke up and narrowed the deficit at 4-point mark at halftime 38:42. Spartak took over in the third term. The Saint Petersburg team erased the deficit and even pulled in front for a 10-point advantage. But Khimky returned into the game setting up a nail-biting finale. The hosts pulled in front for a narrow 74:73 lead within last minute of regulation. Zoran Planinic got fouled and sank just one free throw to make it 75:73 with 26 seconds remaining. However Yotam Halperin (196-G-84) made a turnover in the next possession. Zoran Planinic nailed just one free throw again to give Spartak Saint Petersburg a chance. Kashirov tried to draw things level with a three-pointer but was blocked by Vitaly Fridzon and Khimky celebrated a tough win at the end. Kresimir Loncar (210-F-83, agency: Alti Sport) came up with 13 points and 9 rebounds, while Zoran Planinic finished with 12 points for the winners. Yotam Halperin and Patrick Beverley (185-PG-88, college: Arkansas) answered with 15 points apiece for Spartak Saint Petersburg.
Valencia - Lietuvos rytas 80-70 Valencia sealed the EuroCup Final appearance. They overcame Lietuvos Rytas in Khimky. Brad Newley (201-F-85, agency: Beo Basket) and Niklas Caner-Medley (203-F-83, agency: Beo Basket, college: Maryland) scored 12 points each to pace well-balanced effort from the Spanish team. Valencia jumped to an early lead. They stayed aggressive offensively in the opening quarter and poured in 29 points. The Spaniards piled up a 14-point lead ten minutes into the game. Lietuvos Rytas however stiffened their defence in the second frame. They limited Valencia to 13 points in the quarter to narrow the deficit at 10-point mark 32:42 at halftime. Valencia got back in control in the third frame. Lietuvos Rytas were plagued by misses from behind the arc and Valencia gradually restored a comfortable 13-point lead at the final intermission. Moreover Lietuvos Rytas lost Jonas Valanciunas after he committed the fifth foul. But the Lithuanian powerhouse still fought hard. Babrauaskas knocked down 9 points in a row to narrow the gap at just 6 points 63:69. But three-pointers from Victor Claver (207-F/C-88) and Nando De Colo (202-G-87) kept Valencia in charge. The Spanish team did not allow Lietuvos Rytas within striking distance and rolled to the victory at the end. Victor Claver, Vitor Faverani and Nando De Colo produced 10 points each in the victory. Steponas Babrauskas (197-G/F-84) provided 21 points for Lietuvos Rytas. Renaldas Seibutis had 15 points in the loss.
