Dynamo Moscow defended their EuroCup title. They managed to protect a 32-point buffer after the opening leg of the Finals and clinched the second straight trophy. Dynamo Kursk threw everything they had to save the series but could not overcome a massive deficit after the opening leg. Jelena Milovanovic (190-PF-89) and Seimone Augustus (183-SF-84, college: LSU) chipped in 18 points each to pace the hosts. Dynamo Moscow started confidently and quickly boosted the lead on aggregate. The visitors poured in 25 points in the first frame to gain a 42-point advantage on aggregate. But Dynamo Kursk refused to give up. They cut the deficit at 36:40 at the interval. Dynamo Kursk went on a 23:11 run in the third term to surge ahead. The gap just kept on growing in favour of Dynamo Kursk but the deficit proved too deep to overcome at the end as the hosts had to surrender. Dynamo Moscow made a huge step towards retaining their EuroCup crown. They thumped visiting Dynamo Kursk in the Russian capital today. The team will now move to Kursk for the return leg of the Finals. Tina Charles (193-C-88, agency: LBM Management, college: Connecticut) was pivotal with 26 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Dynamo Kursk looked solid opponents in the first frame. They dropped 26 points and eked out a 3-point lead. But Dynamo Moscow took over in the second term. They went on a 26:17 run to secure a 49:43 halftime advantage. Dynamo Kursk ran out of steam in the second half. The hosts capitalized triggering a 22:8 rally in the third term and boosting their lead to as many as 20 points at the final break. Dynamo Moscow never looked back afterwards cruising to a comfortable win. Dynamo M. - Villeneuve 86-66 Dynamo Moscow clinched a comfortable home win over Villeneuve and advanced into EuroCup Final. The French team enjoyed a 6-point lead after the first leg of the series. Dynamo Moscow poured in 26 points in the first period and gained a 13-point lead. Villeneuve slowed the hosts down in the second frame. The French side got within 12-point mark at the interval. Dynamo Moscow unleashed 28 points in the third term and boosted the gap. The hosts entered the final period up by 22 points. Villeneuve narrowed the gap in the fourth frame but could not avoid the defeat. Istanbul Universitesi jumped to a 23:18 lead after ten minutes of action. The visitors maintained the lead throughout the second term. Istanbul piled up a 38:31 halftime advantage. The teams slowed down in the third term. They exchanged baskets as Istanbul arrived at the final intermission up by 7 points. But Dynamo Kursk outscored their opponents in the fourth frame and sealed the victory on aggregate.
