Ural Great lost the game, but won the Cup - Mar. 24, 2006
At first quarter UG showed better play with team’s actions than the guests. According to statistics home team made 9 assists and Khimik only 2.
Lyday excellent showed his individual play with 7 points and 3 rebounds at first quarter.
Khimik had to use double-team deffence against him. But without success for them.
Without good play of Aleksandar Djuric (208-F/C-82) (8 points at the first quarter) visitors nearly let UG to go far forward. Khimik hardly got each point. Mostly by individual actions – penetration under the basket.
At the second quarter it was a solo of UG center Derrick Derrick Alston (208-C/F-72, agency: Priority Sports, college: Duquesne). He was playing very effective.
He scored 13 points at the second quarter by the shots from the center distance. During 14 minute UG had +10 advantage (35-25) Totally +23 at two games. Two 3point shots of Aleksandar Subara (183-G-79, agency: Beo Basket) let the visitors go close to UG (41-34) But using fast breaks UG brought initiative again by playing 3 guards.
Jurica Golemac (209-F-77, agency: XL Croatian BC) was playing at defence against Aleksandar Subara. He kept Aleksandar Subara close not giving him a chance for a shot. The only way for him was to use a penetration under the basket where Derrick Alston block him also.
Immediately after the big break UG made a final punch by making 3 minutes with 9-2. 6 points from 9 made Derrick Alston. After that Perm within 5 minutes were not able to score a point. 65-50.
Derrick Alston was a person who move the score from dead point. He made 2 points (22 points on 28 minute). At the end of 3rs quarter UG was leading 71-55 (+39 for both games) The problem of Khimik was at very low realization of 2point shots – 52% (12/23) AGAINST 75% (25/33) UG.
Ukrainian players continued to fight for each ball. At the beginning of 4h quarter they successfully made a break 11-1 (72-66 on 35th minute) after 3point shot of Agafonov. Drucker had to use time out and urgently to back Derrick Alston on a court. American center immediate push Khimik to make a fault and got 2 bonus free throats.
Nevertheless during the 37 minute Doichin made a score 74-73 and let the visitors come close to UG. Before 1.30 minute until the end of the game Doichin let Khimik to go forward by making (74-76)
Finally the advantage which UG got at Yuzhny was enough for the them to get FIBA Challenge Cup.

Ural Great is one step closer to the Title! - Mar. 17, 2006
Ural Great Perm claimed victory in the first game of the EuroCup Challenge finals, against Khimik-OPZ Yuzny, 80-67.
The game was closer than it looks.
Ural Great started the game strong and led 20-12 with one minute remaining in the first quarter of play.
Khimik responded by going on a 16-4 run and led 28-24 with 5:38 to go in the first half.
In the fourth quarter, with only 7 minutes to go, the score was 69-66, predicting no one as a victor. Vadim Panin changed that with a scored dunk, Vasily Karasev got a three-pointer and Jurica Jurica Golemac  hit a jumper and a pair of free-throws over the next three and a half minutes , getting Ural Great with a 78-66 lead, closer to the victory, while Khimik scored just one point over the final seven minutes of the game and missed on all six of their field goal attempts.
Ural Great had balanced scoring, led by Jurica Golemac (209-F-77, agency: XL Croatian BC) and Derrick Alston (208-C/F-72, agency: Priority Sports, college: Duquesne), who each tallied 16.
Dubravko Zemljic (201-F/G-76) led the way for Khimik with 15.
Ural Great Perm now only needs a victory or loss of 12 points or less to win the two-game series and claim the EuroCup Challenge title.
Drucker will remain focus on the task at hand. "You can never celebrate until it is over," Sharon Drucker said.
The second game will take place on 23 March in Perm, Russia.
