Montepaschi Siena (SerieA) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old Austrian international power forward Benjamin Ortner (206-103kg-83, college: Metropolitan State of Denver). Ortner moved there from LTi 46ers in German BBL league where he supposed to play, but the plans were changed. The last season he played for Benetton Treviso (SerieA). In 28 SerieA games last year he recorded 10.0ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.2apg. He helped them to make it to the supercup final. Ortner also played at Cantu earlier that season. In 8 SerieA games he averaged 3.8ppg and 2.5rpg. He also played 9 games in Euroleague but he averaged just 0.3ppg.
Ortner has been a member of Austrian international program for some years. He has played for Senior National Team since 2004 and previously for U22 National Team back in 2001.
Ortner has played previously professionally in Austria (TSI Intersport) and Italy (Trenkwalder RE and Udinese).
He attended Metropolitan State of Denver until 2005 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
