Euroleague round 6 best performance: Mickael Gelabale - Nov 17, 2012

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

French Mickael Gelabale (201-SF-83, agency: Three Eye Sports) had an amazing evening in the last round for Cedevita, receiving a Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 29-year old player had a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds, while his team edged out Zalgiris (#1, 5-1) in overtime 108-106. Cedevita maintains the 5th position in Euroleague group C. Cedevita is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-4 record. Gelabale turned to be Cedevita's top player in his first season with the team. Mickael Gelabale averages this season 15.0ppg and 6.0rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 33-year old Darjus Lavrinovic (212-C-79) of league's leader Zalgiris. Lavrinovic had a very good evening with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Zalgiris was edged in overtime by the lower-ranked Cedevita (#5, 2-4) 108-106. Zalgiris managed to keep the same 1st spot in group C. It was just his team's 1st loss this season, while they won 5 other games. Lavrinovic is a newcomer at Zalgiris, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Jaka Blazic (196-G-90) of Un.Olimpija (#5). Blazic got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He was a key player of Un.Olimpija, leading his team to a 81-79 win against Cantu (2-4). The chances of Un.Olimpija not to end season at such low position in group A, however are less than slim as they have already lost 4 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Blazic could try to bring Un.Olimpija's a little bit higher in the standings. Blazic has a very solid season. In 6 games in Euroleague he scored 13.2ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sasha Vujacic (201-SG-84) of Anadolu Efes - 29 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Adam Hrycaniuk (206-C-84) of Asseco Prok. - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Deon Thompson (203-F-88) of ALBA - 20 points and 8 rebounds
7. Stephane Lasme (203-F-82) of Panathinaikos - 15 points and 8 rebounds

10. Kyle Hines (198-F-86) of Olympiacos - 18 points and 4 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
