Slaughter's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - Dec 1, 2012

27-year old Marcus Slaughter (204-C/F-85) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Real Madrid and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
He had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Fener.Ulker (#4, 4-4) with 16-point margin 77-61. It allowed Real Madrid to consolidate first place in the Euroleague group A. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Real Madrid has a very solid 6-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. It was one of impressive evenings for Slaughter as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Marcus Slaughter averages this season 8.0ppg and 6.0rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Luka Zoric (211-C-84) of league's second-best Unicaja. He is Croatian center in his 2nd season at Unicaja. In the last game Zoric recorded impressive 29 points and 4 rebounds. Bad luck as Unicaja lost that game 72-91 to slightly lower-ranked Montepaschi (#3, 5-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in group B. Unicaja still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 6-2 record is not bad at all. Zoric is well-known at Unicaja and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to Gasper Vidmar (211-C/F-87) of Besiktas (#3). Vidmar scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Despite Vidmar's great performance Besiktas lost 48-78 to #1 ranked FCB Regal. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Besiktas needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in group D. Their record is 4 victories and 4 lost games. Vidmar has a very solid season. In 8 games in Euroleague he scored 7.4ppg. He also has 5.5rpg, 1.1bpg and FGP: 61.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Bracey Wright (191-G-84) of Cedevita - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Semih Erden (211-F/C-86) of Anadolu Efes - 10 points and 10 rebounds
6. Milos Teodosic (195-PG-87) of CSKA - 19 points and 9 assists
7. Maciej Lampe (211-F/C-85) of Caja Laboral - 14 points and 12 rebounds
8. Nenad Krstic (212-C-83) of CSKA - 18 points and 4 rebounds
9. Shelden Williams (206-F-83) of Chalon - 10 points and 12 rebounds
10. DaShaun Wood (185-G-85) of ALBA - 14 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The "Hoosier" Lucas Lecavicius.. - 22 hours ago
Panathinaikos found their own elf to add to their backcourt deep in the Baltic forest, expecting to bring some of the Lithuanian school magic at OAKA. Let's talk about the "Hoosier" Lucas Lecavicius.. Xavi Pascual seems to be close to us in terms of thinking and philosophy. I started this offseason thinking the names of Janis Strelnieks and Daniel Theis, envisioning a new, more 'European' Panathinaikos. The German big man signed with the Celtics, and the 'packaging' of the choice of Leca...   [read more]
Euroleague Basketball presents a basketball calendar proposal to FIBA and other stakeholders - 2 days ago
Euroleague Basketball presented a basketball calendar proposal to its stakeholders - clubs, domestic leagues, coaches, players, officials - and to FIBA on September 21, 2017, with the aim of finding a solution to the current 'FIBA 2017 calendar' and the interference of the so-called 'FIBA windows' with the club competitions, both domestic and international, in Europe and beyond. The proposal takes into account the reality of basketball globally, and aims to find a broad understanding on a...   [read more]
