Traditionally at the end of each year Eurobasket announces the European awards for last year.
It's another such ranking prepared by Eurobasket.com staff for women basketball in Europe. Eurobasket has a network of almost 300 correspondents, while most of them are located in Europe and participated in preparing the ranking.
We have the policy of not involving the fans as it may influence the final ranking and instead of that we rely on the opinions of experts.
The votes were made in two categories: All-Europe and All-Europeans.
All-Europe ranking applies to the players, who played in European leagues in last (11-12) and this (12-13) season, so it may apply also to non-European players, who played as imports in Europe.
All-Europeans category applies only to Europeans, but also these, who played overseas (mostly in WNBA).

The Best Player in Europe last year was unanimously Candace Parker (193-C-86) of UMMC Ekaterinburg. The Olympic Games MVP showed her huge potential at every stage. She led US National Team in the Olympic Games in London, together with UMMC she earned Euroleague Bronze Medal. The list of the last season awards is also impressive: All-Euroleague 1st Team, All-Russian PBL Player and Forward of the Year, All-Olympic Games Best Player and Best Center. It seems there is no more titles she can get.
Point Guard of the Year is French Celine Dumerc (169-G-82) who plays for Cercle Jean Mace Bourges in France. Celine had an impressive season with French NT as they won silver medal in London. She was named All-Olympic Games Best Guard (her stats were 14.3ppg, 3.0rpg and 3.4apg). Durmec also celebrated French LFB Championship.
The Best Shooting Guard of the Year award goes to Diana Taurasi (183-SG-82) of UMMC Ekaterinburg. American player played last season at Galatasaray Istanbul in Turkey, this season she moved to Russian powerhouse UMMC Ekaterinburg. With almost 21 points per game she was the best scorer in the Euroleague last season. She won gold medal during the Olympic Games in London last summer.
For small forward position our correspondents selected Seimone Augustus (183-SF-84). The American superstar has been a key player of Spartak Vidnoe Moscow Region for the last two years. Her team reached Euroleague Final Eight and Russian PBL Finals. She was selected All-Euroleague 1st Team. During the summer she advanced to the WNBA Finals with the Minnesota Lynx. By averaging 16.9ppg, 3.9rpg, 2.4apg she was named All-WNBA 1st Team. Seimone is also the Olympic gold medalist from London.
Asjha Jones (191-F/C-80) of Pankup TED Kayseri Kolejspor is the Power Forward of the Year. American forward played last year for Spanish Rivas Ecopolis and led her team to the Euroleague Final (they were defeated by Ros Casares Valencia 65-52 in the final game). Asjha was named Final Four MVP. During the summer she played for Connecticut Sun in WNBA and reached WNBA Eastern Conference Finals. She also represented USA during the Olympic Games in London. Of course the US Team won gold medal.
Last season's best center was without any doubt Candace Parker of UMMC Ekaterinburg.
The All-Europe 2nd Team includes two Americans - Lindsay Whalen (175-PG-82) of Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul and Tina Charles (193-C-88) of TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow. They are joined by two Swedish guard Frida Eldebrink (174-G-88) of Cercle Jean Mace Bourges, Sebrian forward Jelena Milovanovic (190-F-89) of UNIQA Euroleasing Sopron and Polish superstar Agnieszka Bibrzycka (184-F/G-82) of Fenerbahce Spor Kulubu.
Coach of the Year is Spanish Miguel Mendez who led Rivas Ecopolis to the Euroleague Final Game.

All-Europeans Player of the Year goes to Celine Dumerc. The French poing guard was unanimously voted as the best european player last season.
Dumerc is joined in the All-First team by her teammate Frida Eldebrink. Frida signed at Cercle Jean Mace Bourges after sucessful season in Czech Rep. where she won a national title with USK Praha. In the summer she was the best scorer during the Qualifications to Eurobasket with almost 21 points per game.
Alba Torrens (188-F-89) is the Best Small Forward for the second consecutive year. 23-year old Spanish player plays for Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul in Turkey. Last season she led her team to Euroleague Final Eight averaging 14.7ppg.
Eva Viteckova (190-F-82) of ZVVZ USK Praha definitely deserved to be voted All-Europe Power Forward of the Year. Eva showed her shooting potential during the Olympic Games in London where she averaged impressive 15.2ppg and was named Alll-Olympic Games 1st Team.
Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-C-87) of Fenerbahce was selected the Best Center of the Year. Last season she spent at Nadezhda Orenburg in Russia. The best shot-blocker in the European basketball has been also a key player for the Belarusian NT in the summer while Qualifications Round for the Eurobasket 2013.
In the second team we have Becky Hammon (175-PG-77) of Spartak Vidnoe Moscow Region as a point guard, Sandra Mandir (177-G-77) of Lupa Promotion Novi Zagreb in shooting guard and Polish swingman Agnieszka Bibrzycka. In power forward there is Iva Perovanovic (188-C/F-83) of Nadezhda Orenburg and Isabelle acoubou-Dehoui (190-C-86) of Spartak Vidnoe Moscow Region as a center.

Euroleague round 11 best performance: Nicolo Melli - 11 minutes ago

Italian Power forward Nicolo Melli (205-PF-91) had an amazing evening in the last round for Brose Bask., receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 11. The 25-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Maccabi T-A (#10, 5-6) 85-70. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Brose Bask. is placed at 14th position in Euroleague. Too late to improve their position as the...   [read more]

Recap of Round 11 of Regular Season - 14 hours ago

Baskonia - Darussafaka 73-52 Rather expected game in Vitoria where 8th ranked Turkish Darussafaka (5-6) was crushed by fifth ranked Spanish Baskonia (7-4) 73-52. The game was mostly controlled by Baskonia. Darussafaka was better in fourth quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baskonia dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Darussafaka's 22. They outrebounded Darussafaka 47-28 including a 37-19 adv...   [read more]
