Bobby Brown
American Bobby Brown (188-PG-84) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Montepaschi and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2 (Top 16).
The 28-year old playmaker had the game-high 41 points adding seven assists for Montepaschi in his team's victory, helping them to beat Fener.Ulker (#6, 0-2) 98-92. Montepaschi is placed at 2nd position in Euroleague group F. But it's just the very beginning of the Top 16 and Montepaschi won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Brown had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Montepaschi's top player in his first season with the team. California State University, Fullerton graduate has very impressive stats this year. Brown is league's best scorer averaging so far 21.0ppg and is league's best passer with 5.9apg. Brown is in league's top in and averages solid 40.2% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old Bosnia and Herzegovina shooting guard Bojan Bogdanovic (203-SG-89) of Fener.Ulker. Bogdanovic impressed basketball fans with 31 points and 4 rebounds. Bad luck as Fener.Ulker lost that game 92-98 to Montepaschi (2-0). The Top 16 is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Bogdanovic is well-known by Fener.Ulker fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Ricky Hickman (189-PG-85) of Maccabi T-A (#8). Hickman scored 18 points and passed five assists. Despite Hickman's great performance Maccabi T-A lost 70-71 to Caja Laboral (#3, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Maccabi T-A can only dream about fighting for top spots in group F. They have awful Top 16 losing so far all 2 games. Too bad for Hickman he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Hickman has a very solid season. In 12 games in Euroleague he scored 13.3ppg. He also has 3.3apg, 2.2spg and FGP: 51.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nikola Mirotic (207-F/C-91) of Real Madrid - 19 points and 8 rebounds
5. Damir Markota (209-F-85) of Besiktas - 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Viktor Sanikidze (203-SF-86) of Montepaschi - 19 points and 8 rebounds
7. Nenad Krstic (212-C-83) of CSKA - 15 points and 3 rebounds
8. Viktor Khryapa (203-F-82) of CSKA - 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Emir Preldzic (205-SF-87) of Fener.Ulker - 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists
10. Ante Tomic (217-C-87) of FCB Regal - 16 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Towards a new era in Barcelona - 2 days ago
Coach Bartzokas it trying to prepare his team as best as he can for the ACB semi-finals and constantly having in the back of his head the very important summer that is upon them.It is very important that the Blaugrana have started playing e n t i r e matches in a row (which they didn't do and finally cost them in the season) by being efficient in both ends of the floor, which has psychologically 'liberated' them. Georgios Bartzokas is sharing playing minutes among the entire roster as us...   [read more]
