Ibrahim
Jaaber
29-year old Bulgarian ex-international point guard Ibrahim Jaaber (187-82kg-84, college: Pennsylvania) left B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (LKL). Religious personal reasons were quoted for this quite unexpected decision. In three games he played this season he had 11.7ppg, 1.3rpg, 1.3apg and 3.3spg. Jaaber also played 14 games in Euroleague where he recorded 5.9ppg, 2.2rpg, 2.2apg and 1.9spg (in top 2). He also played 9 games in VTB United League where he recorded 5.1ppg, 2.1rpg, 2.3apg and 1.4spg.
The last summer Jaaber played at the Rockets in NBA. He also played at Armani Milano (SerieA) in Italian league that season. In 38 games that year he recorded 11.7ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.1apg and 2.3spg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Quite impressive season as he was named to Italian SerieA All-Star Game and All-Defensive Team.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as Jaabers team was regular season runner-up in Italian SerieA for two years in a row (2008 and 2009). He was also voted Eurobasket.com All-Italian SerieA 2nd Team back in 2009. Jaaber represented Bulgaria at the European Championships in Poland four years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: Score-4 (16.9ppg), 5.0rpg, 3.6apg, Steals-1 (2.3spg), FGP: 58.7%, 3PT: 29.0%, FT: 63.0%.
Jaaber has played previously professionally in Greece (Egaleo) and Italy (Lottomatica Roma).
He attended University of Pennsylvania until 2007 and it is his sixth season as a professional player.
On Jaaber: A PG with quickness and very good hands. Defends very well on the perimeter (steals !!) and is very effective when he penetrates inside, to score or to serve an open teammate. Can also easily hit a long distance shot, if left open. Seems to have great upside yet.
