Galatasaray bring home EuroLeague title! - Apr 13, 2014

Galatasaray claimed the first ever EuroLeague title. They overcame their cross-town rivals Fenerbahce in all-Turkish Final in Ekaterinburg today. Sancho Lyttle (192-C-83, college: Houston) stepped up with 19 points and 12 rebounds to pace the winners.
Galatasaray set the tone in the first period. They went on a commanding 26:7 run to clear off. Fenerbahce started recovering from a knockdown in the second quarter. They pulled within 13 points at halftime 29:42. Fenerbahce dominated on the defensive end in the third term. They cut the deficit at 9-point mark heading into the fourth period. Fenerbahce opened the final frame on a 9:2 run to pull within two points 53:55. But Kimyacioglu drained a timely three-pointer to stop the rot for Galatasaray. Sancho Lyttle added a jumper as they regained a 7-point lead. Kimyacioglu added another treble moments later and then Isil Alben (170-G-86, agency: 1x1 Sports) and Shavonte Zellous (178-G-86, college: Pittsburgh) sealed the historic win from the charity stripe. Kelsey Bone (193-C-91, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 10 points, while Shavonte Zellous and Isil Alben had 9 points each for Galatasaray. Cappie Pondexter (175-G-83, college: Rutgers) responded with 18 points for Fenerbahce. Angel McCoughtry (187-SF-86, college: Louisville) chipped in 12 points in the loss.

UMMC edge Dynamo Moscow to clinch Europe SuperCup title - Oct 29, 2013

UMMC earned the Europe SuperCup trophy. The EuroLeague champions overcame the EuroCup title holders Dynamo Moscow in the exciting clash in Ekaterinburg tonight. Deanna Nolan (183-G/F-79, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: Georgia) posted 15 points to lead the winners.
UMMC recorded a 17:15 lead after the opening quarter. They kept Dynamo at bay throughout the second frame. UMMC ensured a 35:26 halftime lead. The hosts stayed in charge throughout the third term. UMMC piled up a comfortable 14-point advantage heading into the fourth period. The margin grew at 16-point mark before UMMC allowed the visitors to cut the distance. Sandrine Gruda (193-C-87) finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Anete Jekabsone-Zogota (177-SG-83) and Ewelina Kobryn (193-C-82) added 9 points each in the win. Kristi Toliver (170-PG-87, college: Maryland) replied with 21 points for Dynamo. Nadezhda Grishaeva (195-C-89) had 14 points and 8 rebounds in the defeat.
