Belgium's Allemand scored all points for her team for rest of the way and lifted them to 67-60 win at the end, despite France came to minus 3 in the finish. Russia - Czech Republic 63-30 Russia eliminated Czech Republic in the Quarterfinals of U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. Russia celebrated huge 63-30 victory on Friday and will meet Spain in the Semis. That game will be played today. At the other side, Czech Republic will be transferred to Classification Round from 5th to 8th place. Their first rival will be Hungary. Russia took control on Czech Republic from the beginning and never looked back. Quarters: 16-6, 16-10, 10-2, 21-12. Spain - Hungary 57-55 Spain grabbed 57-55 thriller win against Hungary in the Quarterfinals of U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. Spain had 55-48 lead with 3:37 remaining in the game and later thanks to Debora Dubei (180-SF-97)'s triple Hungary came to 57-55 with 12 seconds to go. Laura Quevedo (193-F-96) drew a foul, but she missed both free throws and Hungary had 5 seconds for the last possession. Dubei grabbed defensive rebound and tried to score from behind the arc, but missed and Spain advanced to the Semifinals. Quarters: 18-11, 12-18, 15-15, 12-11. Nogaye Lo Sylla (96) (7 rebs) and Laia Flores (170-SF-96) scored 12 points each for the winners. Laura Quevedo and Elena Capella (171-G-96) helped with 9 points each. In defeat, Debora Dubei shined with 22 points and 6 boards, and Bernadett Horvath (168-PG-96) added 17 pts, plus 7 rebs. Agnes Dobos (190-C-96) stopped to 5 pts and 12 rebounds. In the Semifinals, Spain will meet Russia today. Hungary will play against Czech Republic and it will be their first obstacle to fifth place in Miskolc.
Italy - Slovakia 75-36 Italy demonstrated its power against Slovakia in the Quarterfinals of U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. Italy celebrated comfortable 75-36 win heading to the Semis at this event. There, Italy will meet Belgium in the battle for the title game. Slovakia will continue in Classification Round. They will fight for 5th place in Miskolc. Cecilia Zandalasini (182-F-96) led the winners with 13 points and 7 rebounds, and Isabel Romano (170-PG-96) added 9 points, plus 6 boards. Francesca Russo (172-SG-96) delivered 8 points in victory. Tomorrow, Croatia will play against Greece for the ninth place at this event. Sweden will meet Holland in the battle for position No.11. Croatia made 19-point lead until the halftime. They jumped to plus 22 with ten minutes to go and Sweden was in very difficulty position. The drastically improved for rest of the way (11-25), but it was too late. Greece - Holland 56-53 Greece made first step forward to ninth place at U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. They grabbed 56-53 win against Holland on Friday. In order to take position No.9 at this event Greece will have to beat Croatia tomorrow. Holland will play against Sweden for 11th place. Maria Goula (178-G/F-96) led the winners with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Pinelopi Pavlopoulou (170-PG-96) (6 rebs) and Christiana Gerostergiou (176-G/F-96) added 13 points each. In defeat, Janis Ndiba (185-PF-97) collected 12 points and 6 rebs. Esther Fokke (180-PF-96) (8 rebs) and Fleur Kuijt (174-G-96) (7 rebs) had 10 points each. Gerostergiou made two free throws and lifted Greece to 56-53 lead with 7 seconds remaining in the game, but Holland had the last possession. Kantebeen missed a triple with 4 seconds to go, but Holland grabbed an offensive rebound and Kantebeen tried once again from behind the arc, but Oikonomaki blocked her shot at the buzzer. Quarters: 15-16, 12-15, 9-9, 20-13. Semifinals will be played today, while games for 9th and 11th position are scheduled for Sunday.
Germany - Turkey 48-55 Turkey did a great job against Germany on Friday. The Turkish NT celebrated very important 55-48 victory for 3-1 record in Group G of U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. At other side, Germany dropped to 1-3. Teams in this pool fight for the survival in Division A and there are two more days to go. Turkey shined in the last ten minutes to take the victory in this game. Quarters: 2-9, 14-13, 14-9, 18-24. Serife Onar (167-PG-96) was the leading player in Turkey with 22 points and 5 rebounds (0/6 for 3-pts). Beylem Ilba (176-SF-96) had 9 points and 15 rebs, while Selale Kepenc (186-SF-98) added 8 points, plus 7 boards. Patricia Brossmann (180-SF-97) responded with 15 points and 7 rebs in defeat. Belarus - Czech Republic 58-84 Czech Republic knocked down Belarus to victoriously finish their campaign at the championship. Katerina Galickova (178-F-00) provided 14 points in the win. Czech Republic unloaded 35 points in the first period to take a 22-point lead. Czech Republic protected the lead well throughout the reminder of the contest and marched to the win. Anezka Kopecka (181-PF-00) had 11 points in the victory. Ulyana Skiba (167-PG-00) and Yana Haliakova (184-F-1) responded with 11 points each for Belarus.
Latvia - Turkey 56-60 Turkey earned the ninth place at the championship. They beat Latvia in the classification clash. Goksen Fitik (170-SG-1) posted 12 points to lead the winners. Turkey piled up a 35:29 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 12-point mark heading into the fourth frame. Latvia pulled closer in the fourth term but could not avoid the defeat at the end. Fatmanur Karakas (168-SG-1) had 10 points in the victory. Aleksa Gulbe (184-F/C-00) responded with 14 points for Latvia.
Russia - Hungary 63-56 Russia beat Hungary to clinch the 11th position in Udine. Daria Repnikova (180-SG-00) scored 20 points to lead the winners. Hungary grabbed a 12:8 lead ten minutes into the game. But Russia bounced back in the next periods. They posted a 42:37 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Russia sank 21 points in the fourth term to seal the win. Mariia Antoshina (173-PG-00) had 13 points for the winners. Barbara Angyal (173-PG-1) responded with 18 points for Hungary.
Serbia - Portugal 77-74 Serbia eked out a narrow win over Portugal and remained in Division A for the next season. Portugal ensured a 31:25 halftime lead. Serbia however picked up the tempo after the big break. They unloaded 30 points to secure a 9-point lead heading into the fourth term. Portugal unloaded 28 points but could not avoid relegation. Jelena Mitrovic (204-C-1) tallied 23 points and 23 rebounds for Serbia. Nadezda Nedeljkov (171-SG-1) added 17 points for the winners. Raquel Laneiro (165-G-00) responded with 14 points for Portugal.
Sweden - Slovakia 73-49 Sweden wrapped up their campaign in Udine with victory. They cruised past Slovakia to clinch the 15th place. Precious Johnson (189-C-00) nailed 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the winners. Slovakia grabbed a 22:18 lead after ten minutes. But Sweden limited their opponents to just 27 points in the next three quarters to march to the victory. Patricia Elias (161-PG-00) chipped in 15 points for the wining side. Natalia Senova (172-PG-00) replied with 12 points for Slovakia.
