Croatia - Holland 59-71
Netherlands triumphed in Tallinn to win U16 European Championship in Division B. The Dutch team overcame Croatia in the Final 71:59 as both teams achieved promotion to Division A.Van Den Bosch delivered 14 points for the champions. Sharon Lammerink (189-C-93) collected 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Kallenberg netted 11. Blazevic ended up with 20 points and 13 boards in the losing case. Begic added 12, while Rados scored 11 for the Silver team.

3-4 spot
Denmark - Slovakia 50-77
Slovak Republic U16 clinches Bronze in Estonia at the U16 European Championship in Division B. In the game for the third pace the team outscored Denmark 77:50 to finish third. Beata Janoscikova (195-C-93) top-scored for the winners with 15 points. Slezarikova nailed 14, while Bradnanska netted 12. Seilund delivered 15 points and Hansen scored 8.

5-6 spot
Bosnia - Latvia 56-71
Latvia U16 is 5th at the U16 European Championship in Division B. In the game for that spot the Baltic team edged Bosnia 71:59 for the total success. Fomina and Sabine Dukate (176-F-93) top-scored for the winners with 16 points, whilst Geka notched 11. Milic ended up with 18 points and 11 rebounds and Tomasovic collected 16 points and 13 rebounds in defeat.

7-8 spot
Romania - Portugal 56-31
Romania won the game for the 7th place at the U16 European Championship in Division B. The team smashed Portugal 56:31 in a defensive style of the game as the latter is 8th in Tallinn. Arina Craciun (191-C-93) collected 15 points and 11 rebounds to pace all the winners. Sonia Ursu had 14 points and 13 boards, while Oana Baluta brought 14 points and 12 caroms. Joana Jesus finished the night with 11 points and Jessica Almeida added 8.

9-10 spot
Montenegro - Slovenia 83-74
Vucetic and Ana Turcinovic (187-C-93) exploded for Montenegro U16 over Slovenia U16 in their last game in Tallinn. Montenegro took the 9th place at the U16 European Championship in Division B. Vucetic and Ana Turcinovic combined 55 points for the winners as the latter also had 22 rebounds. Milosev followed them with 11 points in a win. Svetic posted 17 points for the Slovenia team that finished on the 10th spot. Jevtovic collected 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Abramovic scored 14.

11-12 spot
United Kingdom - Ireland 69-57
England finished on the 11th spot at the U16 European Championship in Division B. The winners beat Ireland 69:57 in the last game of the tournament. England started with 17:5 in the opening quarter and that was enough to control the rest of the game. Gaskin scored for 32:20 as the teams entered the second half and then England led to the winning finish. Claire Harper (185-F-94) top-scored for the winners with 17 points, while Gaskin collected 15 points and 12 rebounds. Scannell ended up with 14 points in defeat and O'Reilly added 11. O'Shea scored 10 points for Ireland that finished on the 12 spot.

13-14 spot
Israel - Estonia 78-66
Israel clinched the 13th Place at the the U16 European Championship in Division B. The team overcame the hosts of the tournament 78:66 in the last game of their campaign. Refael Kalim and Aviv Casspi paced all the winners with 16 points apiece. Koch followed them with 11 points for the higher spot. Nele Laurimaa finished the night with 19 points for Estonia that finished on the 14th spot. Liis Kullamaa nailed 15 and Trine Kasemagi (190-C-95) added 12.

15-16 spot
Ukraine - Luxembourg 51-49
Ukraine U16 comes back home with 15th place at the U16 European Championship. Tallinn saw the last game between Ukraine and Luxembourg as the team of Feodora Kochergina celebrated 51:49 victory. Oleksandra Chek top-scored for the winners with 16 points for the higher place. Nataliya Pokrovenko (174-G-93) netted 12, while Miriam Uro-Nile collected 11 points and 12 rebounds. Lena Hetto ended up with 18 points and 10 boards in defeat, whilst Sophie Sunnen added 8.


Div. B Day: 8 (Semi-Finals) - Aug. 8, 2009 
13-16 spot
Luxembourg - Estonia 61-71
Estonia will play for the 13th spot at the tournament. They held off Luxembourg in the classification round today behind 33 points from Nele Laurimaa (179-F-93). The hero of the game added 9 boards and 3 steals to her tally. Jekaterina Tsotsa added 15 points and 5 boards for the hosts. Luxembourg responded with 16 points and 6 boards from Lena Hetto. Estonia will face Israel, while Luxembourg will play against Ukraine on the final day of the competition.

Israel - Ukraine 71-63
Israeli U16 team overcame Ukraine in the classification games for the 13th-16th place. Aviv Casspi (180-F-93) notched 27 points to lead the charge. Hadar Levi and Michal Gilat added 12 points each in the win. Oleksandra Chek responded with 21 points and 12 boards for Ukraine as they suffered the sixth straight defeat at the tournament.

5-8 spot
Romania - Bosnia 53-69
Bosnia held off Romania at the U16 European Championship in Division B today. The victory allowed Romania to set up the clash against Latvia for the 5th overall spot at the tournament. Nikolina Milic (195-C-94) paced the winners with 22 points. Miljana Dzombeta had 17 points and 5 assists for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Oana Baluta and Sonia Ursu responded with 20 points each for Romania.

Portugal - Latvia 56-72
Asnate-Marianna Fomina unloaded 17 points to propel Latvia past Portugal in the classification round of the U16 European championship in Division B tonight. Latvia led from start to finish to arrange the clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina for the fifth spot tomorrow. Daiga Kuzmane (183-F-93) contributed 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winning team. Jessica Almeida answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

9-12 spot
Montenegro - United Kingdom 78-57
Montenegro shot down England tonight. Jelena Vucetic (178-G-93) proved the status of one of the best scorers at the tournament firing 31 points to go along with 10 boards and 9 assists. Dara Marjanovic and Milica Milosev had 13 points each in the win. Lucy Buxton and Claire Harper replied with 9 points apiece for England.

Slovenia - Ireland 67-40
Slovenia will play for the 9th place in Tallinn. They topped Ireland tonight to set up the clash against Macedonia. Rebeka Abramovic (170-G-93) paced balanced offensive effort with 11 points. Nina Gabrovsek added 9 points for Slovenia in the victory. Rheanne O'Shea responded with 13 points for Ireland. Ciara Newell netted 11 points in defeat.

Semifinals
Holland - Slovakia 79-72
Netherlands have gained the main goal winning the promotion to Division A of the U16 European Championship. They toppled Slovakia in the semifinal stage of the Division B tournament to achieve the objective. Netherlands will take on Croatia in the championship game tomorrow. The Dutch team needed a strong fourth quarter to run away with a hard-fought victory. Willemijn Kallenberg (176-G-93) knocked down 18 points for Netherlands. Maxime Essenstam notched 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Noema Bradnanska had 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for Slovakia. Zofia Hruscakova netted 14 points in the losing effort.

Croatia - Denmark 80-58
Croatia have reached the championship game at the U16 European Championship in Division B. They overcame Denmark in the first semifinal in Tallinn today. The win meant Croatia won the ticket to the Division A for next season. Glorija Sikiric (165-G-95) scored 18 points to lead the charge. Andrijana Cvitkovic knocked down 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Croatia. Lana Packovski and Maja Puljic added 10 points in the win. Elisabeth Hansen replied with 12 points for Denmark. Maria Jespersen and Marie Blyme notched 11 points each in the losing case.


Div. B Day: 7 (Qualifying Round) - Aug. 6, 2009 
Group E
Latvia - Slovakia 56-64
Slovakian U16 National Team posted the second win at the Qualifying Round of the European Championship in Division B. They toppled Latvia in Tallinn today to improve at 2-1 record in Group E. Latvia fell at 0-3 record at the bottom of the ladder. Sabina Oroszova (187-F-93) scored 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for Slovakia. Noema Bradnanska had 11 points in the winning case. Sabine Dukate responded with 21 points for Latvia. Liba-Paula Berga knocked down 8 points in the loss.

Romania - Croatia 46-55
Croatia claimed the second win in the Qualifying Round of the U16 European Championship in Division B today. They held off Romania to clinch the top spot in Group E. Therefore Croatia will play in the semifinal of the tournament. Romania slipped at 1-2 record and occupied the third spot in the pool. They will now fight for the 5th-8th spot in the classification round. Andrijana Cvitkovic (186-C-94) finished with 15 points and 12 boards for Croatia. Ana-Marija Begic added 9 points, while Maja Puljic netted 7 points in the win. Sonia Ursu and Oana Baluta responded with 10 points each in defeat.

Group F
Portugal - Bosnia 69-56
Portugal held off Bosnia and Herzegovina at the U16 European Championship today. Portugal improved at 2-1 record in the third position in Group F. Bosnia and Herzegovina slipped at 0-3 record and would play in the classification games for the 5th-8th position. Jessica Almeida (172-G-93) scored 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Portugal. Paula Couto had 14 points and 8 rebounds in the winning case. Nikolina Milic responded with 29 points and 16 boards for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Krstina Surlan netted 12 points in the loss.

Holland - Denmark 71-73
Denmark showed character defeating Netherlands in the exhausting overtime battle in Group F of the U16 European Championship in Division B. The Danish team overcame a 19-point deficit after the starting frame to prevail against ambitious Netherlands at the end. Both teams however made into the semis of the tournament. Denmark will face Croatia, while Netherlands will fight with Slovakia for the Division A ticket. Anna Seilund (172-G-93) knocked down 14 points to pace Denmark. Elisabeth Hansen had 13 points in the win. Gabrielle Van Den Bosch responded with game-high 30 points for Netherlands. Sharon Lammerink netted 19 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in the loss.

Group G
Estonia - Ireland 45-76
Ireland claimed a confident win over hosting Estonia in the classification round of the U16 European Championship in Division B. The Irish team thus climbed at 2-1 record in Group G. Estonia suffered the fourth straight defeat at the tournament and fell at 0-3 record in the pool. Rheanne O'Shea (175-G-93) knocked down 19 points to lead Ireland to the victory. Clodagh A. Scannell notched 12 points, 6 assists and 4 boards for Ireland. Ailish O'Reilly added 9 points in the win. Nele Laurimaa responded with 10 points for Estonia. Jekaterina Tsotsa had 8 points in the loss.

Israel - Montenegro 72-96
Montenegro posted a cruising win over Israel at the U16 European championship today. Jelena Vucetic (178-G-93) cannoned 36 points to pace Montenegro to the victory. Montenegro thus won Group G and would play for the 9th-12th spot in the tournament. Israel occupied the third spot in the pool. Sanja Kuzelj scored 27 points and collected 15 boards. Ana Turcinovic added 20 points, 22 boards and 5 assists for the winners. Keren Mozes answered with 24 points for Israel. Aviv Casspi produced 21 points in defeat.

Group H
United Kingdom - Slovenia 46-57
Slovenian U16 team clinched the top spot in Group H of the European championship in Division B. They overcame England today to improve at 3-0 record in the pool. England finished in the second spot at 2-1 record. Slovenia will take on Ireland, while England will play against Montenegro in the classification games for the 9th-12th place. Nina Gabrovsek (168-G-94) and Rebeka Abramovic (170-G-93) knocked down 12 points each to lead Slovenia. Sandra Jevtovic had 11 points and 12 boards in the victory. Leah McDerment responded with 12 points for England. Christina Gaskins produced 11 points and 7 boards in the loss.

Ukraine - Luxembourg 50-61
Luxembourg U16 team posted the third win at the European Championship in Division B. They held off Ukraine in Group H to clinch the third position. Ukraine suffered the fifth straight defeat and would play for the 13th -16th spot. Lena Hetto (184-F-93) finished with 35 points and 16 rebounds for Luxembourg. Sophie Sunnen added 9 points in the win. Nataliya Pokrovenko responded with 19 points for Ukraine. Nataliya Skorbatyuk had 12 points in defeat.


Div. B Day: 6 (Qualifying Round) - Aug. 5, 2009 
Group E
Croatia - Latvia 64-42
Croatia celebrated the first win at the Qualifying Round of the U16 European Championship in Division B. They thumped Latvia in Group E to improve at 2-0 record. Latvia on the other hand slipped at the bottom of the ladder at 0-2. Ana-Marija Begic (188-C-94) knocked down 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for Croatia. Ivana Blazevic added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Ruta Veidere responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds in defeat. Guna Lagzdina had 8 points and 10 rebounds for Latvia.

Slovakia - Romania 84-58
Slovakian U16 team posted a comprehensive win over Romania at the European championship in Division B. The teams opened the Qualifying Round today and Slovakia managed to improve at 1-1 record in Group E. They caught up with their opponents in the ladder as Romania slipped at 1-1. Sabina Oroszova (187-F-93) paced the charge as she knocked down 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Noema Bradnanska scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Slovakia. Barbora Balintova provided 10 points in the win. Sonia Ursu responded with 30 points and 10 boards in the loss. Arina Craciun had 10 points for Romania.

Group F
Denmark - Portugal 56-59
Portugal gained a tough win over Denmark at the start of the Qualifying Round at the U16 European Championship. Joana Jesus (169-G-93) scored 24 points to lead Portugal to the success in Group F. Denmark on the other hand suffered the first defeat at the tournament. Jessica Almeida finished with 14 points for the winners. Mafalda Barros added 9 points for Portugal. Mathilde Gilling replied with 14 points and 12 boards for Denmark. Elisabeth Hansen had 12 points in defeat. Denmark outrebounded their opponents 50:29 but suffered 25 turnovers and shot just 60% from free throw line.

Bosnia - Holland 49-83
The Dutch U16 team opened their Qualifying round campaign at the European Championship in Division B victoriously. They coasted to a comfortable win over Bosnia and Herzegovina to improve at 2-0 record in Group F. Bosnia and Herzegovina in the meantime slipped at 0-2 record. Maxime Essenstam (189-C-93) stepped up with 22 points, 12 boards and 5 assists to lead Netherlands. Gabrielle Van Den Bosch and Kourtney Treffers scored 8 points each for Netherlands. Nikolina Milic knocked down 15 points for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Miljana Dzombeta replied with 14 points and 6 assists in defeat. Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered deadly 36 turnovers down the stretch and got outrebounded 36:50.

Group G
Montenegro - Estonia 82-66
Montenegro opened their European Championship in Division B classification round campaign with win. They overcame Estonia in Group G to improve at 1-1 record. The hosts fell at 0-2 record in the table. Ana Turcinovic (187-C-93) tallied 24 points, 28 rebounds and 6 steals to pace Montenegro. Sanja Kuzelj had 17 points and 7 rebounds for Montenegro. Jelena Vucetic added 16 points for the winners. Nele Laurimaa produced 24 points and 9 boards for Estonia. Liis Kullamaa chipped in 13 points in defeat.

Ireland - Israel 57-65
Israeli U16 team posted the first win in Group G of the European Championship in Division B. They outscored Ireland to improve at 2-0 record. Ireland slipped at 1-1 in the pool. Aviv Casspi (180-F-93) was pivotal for Israel with 24 points and 6 steals. Keren Mozes knocked down 12 points and collected 12 boards for Israel. May Dayan had 8 points in the winning effort. Clodagh A. Scannell responded with 15 points for Ireland. Erika O'Keeffe had 13 points and 16 rebounds in defeat.

Group H
Luxembourg - United Kingdom 57-62
England toppled Luxembourg in Group H of the U16 European Championship. Leah McDerment (163-G-96) scored 15 points to pace the winners. Rosie Hynes added 8 points for England as they climbed at 2-0 record in the group. Luxembourg answered with game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds from Lena Hetto. Paulina Scheuren had 11 points in the loss.

Group I
Austria - Switzerland 50-49
Austria pip Switzerland at the start of the classification games for the 17th-19th place at the U16 European Championship in Division B. Austria thus climbed at 1-0 record in Group I. Christine Ojo (181-F-93) paced Austria with 16 points and 8 rebounds. She was responsible for four straight points at the end of the game to propel Austria to the win out of a 3-point deficit. Bozovic ensured a 49:44 lead for the Swiss team with under 3 minutes to go in regulation. But first Barbara Keck hit a jumper to narrow the distance and then Ojo followed with four points in a row sealing the win for determined Austria.

Div. B Day: 5 (Preliminary Round) - Aug. 3, 2009 
Group A
Ireland - Montenegro 72-65
Ireland beat Montenegro to tie both records at 1-3 at the U16 European Championship in Division B. Ireland U16 produced 72:65 victory in Group A last game. O'Keeffe top-scored for the winners with 21 points and 12 rebounds for the first victory. O'Shea nailed 16, while Clodagh A. Scannell (180-F-93) notched 12. Croatia won Group A of the U16 European Championship in Division B. The team finished the Preliminary Round with 4-0 record after the victory over Austria 83:48. Ivana Blazevic (182-G-93) top-scored for the winners with 27 points to remain the team undefeated. Begic collected 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Packovski added 11. Pocksteiner finished the game with 10 points and Zderadicka scored 9. In another game Ireland beat Montenegro to tie both records at 1-3.

Group B
Switzerland - Romania 45-49
Romanian U16 team posted the third win at the European championship in Division B in Tallinn. They narrowly defeated Switzerland in the final game of the preliminary round to clinch the top spot in Group B. Romania thus advanced into the Qualifying round of the tournament, while Switzerland lost the fourth straight game and would try to avoid relegation in classification games. Alexandra Dumitrache (172-G-94) came up for Romania with 21 points in the victory. Sonia Ursu finished with 9 points for Romania. Arina Craciun added 6 points and 7 boards for the winners. Shannon Hatch had 11 points and 11 boards for Switzerland. Geraldine Mentha and Dana Bozovic knocked down 10 points each in the loss.

Israel - Estonia 94-58
Israeli U16 team recorded the second win at the European Championship in Division B. They toppled hosting Estonia in Group B to improve at 2-2 record. Estonia fell at 2-2 record as both teams were knocked out of the title race in Tallinn. Keren Mozes (175-F-93) knocked down 22 points and grabbed 7 boards for Israel. Aviv Casspi produced 19 points and 8 steals for the winners. Nele Laurimaa answered with 18 points for Estonia. Katlin Saat had 10 points in defeat.

Group C
Luxembourg - Bosnia 56-52
Luxembourg posted the second win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. They toppled Bosnia and Herzegovina to catch up with their opponents in Group C ladder. Both teams are now tied at 2-2 record. Lena Hetto (184-F-93) tallied 18 points and 13 boards to lead Luxembourg. Paulina Scheuren added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the winning case. Krstina Surlan responded with 14 points for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Biljana Borenovic had 8 points and 9 boards in the loss.

Bulgaria - Denmark 47-74
Denmark registered the fourth straight win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. They cruised past Bulgaria to ensure a 4-0 record on top of Group C. Bulgaria on the other hand suffered the fourth consecutive defeat in the preliminary action. Maria Jespersen (177-F-94) produced 14 points and 7 boards for Denmark. Anna Seilund added 13 points, while Elisabeth Hansen had 10 points and 11 boards in the win. Kristina Peychinova responded with 19 points for Bulgaria. Ani Le fan had 17 points and 10 boards in defeat. Bulgaria suffered 25 turnovers and sank only 25% from the field in the loss.

Group D
Portugal - Ukraine 65-52
Portuguese U16 team recorded the second win at the European Championship in Division B. They knocked down Ukraine in Group D in Tallinn today. Joana Jesus (169-G-93) scored 18 points to pace Portugal. Ukraine suffered the third consecutive defeat and dropped out of the title race. Catarina Neves knocked down 13 points for Portugal. Jessica Almeida added 9 points and 7 assists. Kateryna Demchenko answered with 17 points for Ukraine. Oleksandra Chek had 12 points and 15 boards in defeat.

United Kingdom - Holland 40-62
The Dutch U16 team kept their record perfect at the end of the preliminary round of the European Championship in Division B. They posted the third consecutive win overcoming England today. The success allowed Netherlands to clinch the top spot in Group D. England finished in the third position at 1-2 record and failed to make it to the qualifying round. Maxime Essenstam (189-C-93) had 15 points to pace Netherlands. Sharon Lammerink nailed 13 points and 6 boards for the winning side. Olufemi Hamilton and Cheridene Green answered with 10 points each in the loss.

Croatia - Slovakia 55-52
Croatia posted the third consecutive win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. They held off Slovakia to improve at 3-0 record in Group A. Slovakia suffered the first defeat to slip at 3-1 record. Croatia used a tight defense in the second half to come back from a 4-point halftime deficit. Ivana Blazevic (182-G-93) nailed 12 points and grabbed 7 boards for Croatia. Andrijana Cvitkovic had 11 points and 7 boards in the winning effort. Sabina Oroszova responded with 17 points and 10 rebounds for Slovakia. Zofia Hruscakova finished with 9 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.

Montenegro - Austria 95-69
Jelena Vucetic (178-G-93) exploded with incredible performance at the U16 European Championship in Division B today. She tallied outstanding triple-double of 43 points, 11 boards, 11 assists and 5 steals to lead Montenegro past Austria. Montenegro thus clinched the first win at the tournament and caught up with Austria in Group A at 1-2 record. Dara Marjanovic added 25 points and 8 steals for Montenegro. Milica Milosev had 12 points in the win. Julia Pocksteiner replied with 17 points for Austria. Christine Ojo had 15 points and 10 rebounds in defeat. Austria suffered intolerable 32 turnovers and allowed 48% of field goals from Montenegro.

Romania - Latvia 74-71
Romanian U16 team posted the second win at the European Championship in Division B. They toppled Latvia by just three points to improve at 2-1 record in Group B. Latvia suffered the first defeat at the tournament but remained on top of the pool at 3-1 record. Sonia Ursu (177-F-93) tallied 31 points and 11 boards to lead the charge. Arina Craciun added 15 points and 13 boards for Romania. Sabine Dukate responded with 25 points. Katrina Epnere produced 11 points in the losing effort. Romania outrebounded Latvia 52:44 and limited those to 34% of field goals.

Estonia - Switzerland 46-40
Estonia claimed the second win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. The hosts of the tournament held off Switzerland to improve at 2-1 record in preliminary Group B. The Swiss team in the meantime slipped at 0-3 record at the bottom of the standings. Nele Laurimaa (179-F-93) provided 21 points and 7 boards for the winners. Birgit Piibur and Jekaterina Tsotsa had 7 points each for Estonia. Dana Bozovic replied with 11 points and 20 rebounds. Shannon Hatch chipped in 8 points and collected 10 rebounds in defeat.

Denmark - Luxembourg 63-56
Denmark posted the third consecutive win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. They remained on top of preliminary Group C after the win over Luxembourg today. Anna Seilund (172-G-93) produced 23 points, 7 boards and 4 assists to pace the charge. Luxembourg fell at 1-2 record after the loss. Mathilde Gilling secured 12 points and 10 rebounds for Denmark. Elisabeth Hansen had 9 points in the winning effort. Paulina Scheuren responded with 17 points for Luxembourg. Lena Hetto nailed 9 points in defeat.

Bosnia - Slovenia 78-70
Bosnia and Herzegovina ensured the second win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. They held off Slovenia in preliminary Group C in Tallinn today. Nikolina Milic (195-C-94) was pivotal with 28 points, 6 boards and 4 assists for the winners. Bosnia and Herzegovina thus improved at 2-1 record, while Slovenia slipped at 2-2. Slovakia - Montenegro 82-52
Slovakia became the leader of Group A as they rolled over Montenegro 82:52 in Day 3. Angelika Slamova (172-G-94) top-scored for the winners with 18 points and Oroszova Sabina had 17 points and 12 boards. Vucetic Jelena brought her team 16 points in the losing case.

Group B
Switzerland - Israel 50-52
Israel celebrated the initial victory in Group B as the rolled over Swiss side 52:50. Aviv Casspi (180-F-93) paced all the winners with 17 points and Levi Hadar added 10. Bozovic Dana finished the night with 16 points and 13 rebounds in the losing effort.

Latvia - Estonia 99-46
Latvia smashed Estonia 99:46 for 3-0 record in Group B. Agate Geka (168-G-93) was unstoppable with 19 points and Lagzdina Guna had 17 points and 13 boards. Tsotsa Jekaterina delivered 13 points in the losing effort.

Group C
Luxembourg - Bulgaria 43-36
Luxembourg and Bulgaria looked poor with their offensive skills as the team from the smaller country grabbed 43:36 victory. Lena Hetto (184-F-93) top-scored for the winners with 10 points and Le fan Ani brought 15 in the losing case.

Slovenia - Denmark 39-51
Denmark became the only undefeated team in Group C as they beat Slovenia 51:39. Elisabeth Hansen (174-G-93) top-scored for the winners with 14 points for 2-0 record. Abramovic Rebeka finished the game with 14 points in defeat.

Group D
Holland - Ukraine 89-49
Holland demolished Ukraine 89:49 for 2-0 record in Group D. Maxime Essenstam (189-C-93) shined with 24 points for the winners and Kallenberg Willemijn followed her with 17. Demchenko Kateryna poured in 17 points for Ukraine.

United Kingdom - Portugal 23-50
Portugal destroyed the team from the United Kingdom 50:23 in Group D as both teams have 1-1 records. Catarina Neves (173-G-93) top-scored with 13 points, while Couto Paula and Pinto Ines had 10 each. Nobody reached even 6 points in the losing effort.

Group A
Montenegro - Croatia 50-80
Croatia reached the second straight victory at the U16 European Championship in Division B. After the victory in all the quarters the team overcame Montenegro 80:50. Maja Puljic (176-F-93) and Blazevic top-scored for the winners with 13 points each. Begic collected 10 points and 13 boards, while Cvitkovic had 10. Turcinovic finished the game with 15 points and 14 caroms, while Kuzelj netted 13 and Marjanovic scored 11.

Ireland - Slovakia 55-83
Slovak Republic recorded another victory at the U16 European Championship in Division B. The team improved to 2-0 record after the victory over Ireland 83:55. Noema Bradnanska (174-F-93) paced all the winners with 14 points. Balintova netted 13, while Oroszova had 12 points and 11 boards. O'Shea delivered 21 in defeat and Newell scored 11.

Group B
Estonia - Romania 69-65
Estonia U16 opened their European Championship today and beat Romania 69:65. For Romania it was the second game and the first loss as last night the team overcame Israel. Birgit Piibur (160-G-94) made the last jump shot in the fourth period to send the teams to the extra time with the game tied at 59:59. Laurimaa opened overtime for 61:59, while Baluta replied for 61:61. Birgit Piibur gave the Baltic side 63:61 and he added another points from the free throw. Kullamaa gave more confidence at 67:61 with less than two minutes in the game. Ardelean reduced to 67:63 and he also made a free throw for 67:64. Baluta brought 67:65 but Saat gave Estonia the victory.

Israel - Latvia 56-77
Latvia posted the second consecutive win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. They toppled Israel in preliminary Group B to top the pool at 2-0 record. Israel slipped at 0-2 record after the loss. Sabine Dukate (176-F-93) produced 16 points to lead Latvia. Daiga Kuzmane added 14 points and 13 boards, while Guna Lagzdina had 13 points and 18 boards in the winning effort. Keren Mozes replied with 13 points and 7 boards for Israel. Aviv Casspi and Nitzan Koch netted 10 points each in defeat.

Group C
Denmark - Bosnia 79-49
Denmark opened their U16 European Championship campaign with victory. They bruised Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group C today. Bosnia and Herzegovina slipped at 1-1 record after the defeat. Anna Seilund (172-G-93) was pivotal for Denmark with 21 points. Maria Jespersen produced 19 points and 13 boards for Denmark. Julie Ravn added 9 points in the winning effort. Rebeka Abramovic knocked down 13 points to lead Slovenia. Tina Kercmar (178-F-94) added 8 points and 8 steals in the victory. Hristina Tyutyundzhieva had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Bulgaria. Yana Kozhuharova had 8 points in the losing effort. Bulgaria suffered 36 turnovers and shot just 33% from the field in defeat.

Group A
Slovakia - Austria 90-32
Slovakian U16 team opened their European Championship in Division B campaign with victory. They stunned Austria in Group A. Noema Bradnanska (174-F-93) fired 18 points to pace the charge. Lenka Slezarikova scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Slovakia. Zofia Hruscakova added 11 points in the win. Lisa Zderadicka and Julia Pocksteiner responded with 8 points each in the loss. Slovakia outrebounded their opponents 62:36 and forced those into deadly 41 turnovers. Slovakia sank 41% from the field, while holding their opponents to only 20%. Slovakia will face Montenegro, while Austria will take on Ireland on Saturday.

Croatia - Ireland 78-38
Croatia claimed the first win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. The tournament tipped off today in Tallinn, Estonia and Croatia faced Ireland in Group A action. A furious second-quarter display from Croatia gave them the decisive advantage and they cruised to the win at the end. Ivana Blazevic (182-G-93) finished with 19 points for Croatia. Maja Puljic added 16 points and 8 steals for the winners. Clodagh A. Scannell replied with 13 points for Ireland. Erika O'Keeffe had 9 points in defeat.

Group B
Romania - Israel 77-59
Romania earned the initial win at the U16 European Championship in Division B. They cruised past Israel in the opening game in Group B today. Sonia Ursu (177-F-93) exploded with 28 points, 15 boards and 7 steals for the winners. Arina Craciun had 14 points and 12 boards for Romania. Bianca Blanaru added 9 points and 7 boards in the winning case. Keren Mozes answered with 17 points for Israel. Aviv Casspi had 15 points in defeat.

Latvia - Switzerland 78-45
Latvia started their U16 European campaign with an easy win over Switzerland U16 in Estonia. The Baltic side won all the frames for the total 78:45 in Group B opener. Sabine Dukate (176-F-93) led the way with 15 points for the first victory. Guna Lagzdina nailed 14 and Daiga Kuzmane brought 11. Shannon Hatch collected 10 points and 12 boards in the losing effort, while Dana Bozovic added 9.

Group C
Slovenia - Luxembourg 58-50
Slovenia performed impressive comeback to steal a tough win over Luxembourg at the start of the U16 European Championship in Division B. Trailing by 13 points at halftime Slovenia did not surrender and eked out an exhausting victory at the end. Rebeka Abramovic (170-G-93) knocked down 15 points and made 8 steals to pace Slovenia. Alina Gjerkes added 8 points in the victory. Lena Hetto replied with 21 points and 7 boards for Luxembourg. Nadia Marcus added 15 points and 8 boards in the losing effort.

Bosnia - Bulgaria 80-40
Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrated the first win at the U16 European Championship in Division B that started today in Estonia. They thrashed Bulgaria to take the lead in Group C in Tallinn. Krstina Surlan (179-F/G-93) knocked down 22 points to pace Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nikolina Milic (195-C-94) provided 17 points for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Miljana Dzombeta added 10 points, 8 steals and 7 assists in the win. Hristina Tyutyundzhieva responded with 10 points for Bulgaria. Dora Sevova had 8 points in defeat. Bulgaria suffered 32 turnovers and sank only 26% from the field in the loss. Bosnia and Herzegovina will face Denmark, while Bulgaria will play against Slovenia tomorrow.

Group D
Portugal - Holland 55-72
The Dutch U16 team registered the first win at the European Championship in Division B. They toppled Portugal in preliminary Group D today. Netherlands were able to overcome woeful 28 turnovers to tame Portuguese opponents at the end. Kourtney Treffers (182-F-94) and Maxime Essenstam came up with 10 points each to lead balanced offensive effort from Netherlands. Sharon Lammerink added 9 points and 16 rebounds in the victory. Catarina Neves responded with 14 points and 8 boards for Portugal. Joana Jesus had 10 points in the loss. Netherland outrebounded their opponents 51:29 and limited those to just 30% from the field.

Ukraine - United Kingdom 41-68
England opened their U16 European Championship Women 2009 Division B in Estonia with a victory. The British side beat the Ukrainian side 68:41 in the opener of Group D. Christina Gaskins (183-C-93) top-scored for the winners with 16 points for 1-0 record. Lucy Buxton nailed 14, while Leah McDerment added 8 points. Kateryna Demchenko ended up with 13 points in the losing case, while Oleksandra Chek notched 9.
