Group A
Germany - United Kingdom 61-56
Germany held off Great Britain at the start of the European Championship. Philipp Herkenhoff (202-PF-99) stepped up with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Great Britain eked out a 28:26 halftime lead. But Germany went on a strong rally in the second half and snatched the victory. Nelson Weidemann (188-PG-99), Isaac Bonga (196-F-99) and Hendrik Drescher (202-C-00) provided 10 points apiece for the winners. Nelson Boachie-Yiadom (197-F-99) responded with 16 points for Great Britain.

Group B
Greece - Israel 80-65
Greece beat Israel for the first victory in Group B. Dimitrios Rafail Moraitis (194-PG-99) scored 22 points, 7 steals, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the Hellenes. Israel eked out a 31:30 halftime lead. But Greece unloaded 50 points in the second half and coasted to the victory. Konstantinos Vlagkogias (99) netted 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the winners. Amit Ebo (179-G-99) responded with 21 points for Israel.

Spain - Lithuania 61-66
Lithuania opened home championship with victory. They beat Spain in Kaunas in the opener. Grantas Vasiliauskas, Arnas Velicka (99) and Ignas Sargiunas (99) scored 9 points each for the winners. Spain recorded a 30:27 halftime lead. Lithuania stepped on the gas in the second half. The hosts pulled within a single point at the final break. They followed with a 19:13 run in the fourth quarter to ice the victory. Vitalijus Kozys (195-SF-99) and Elvis Juozaitis (99) had 8 points each for the winners. Sergi Martinez (200-PF-99) responded with 21 points for Spain.

Group C
Serbia - Bosnia 56-76
Bosnia and Herzegovina registered a comfortable victory over neighbouring Serbia at the start of the championship. Dzanan Musa (202-G-99, agency: Beo Basket) was pivotal with 27 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds for the winners. Serbia recorded a 21:18 lead after the opening quarter. But Bosnia and Herzegovina turned the tables in the next periods. They unloaded 58 points and rallied to a comfortable victory. Njegos Sikiras (205-F-99) delivered 9 points for the winners. Aleksa Matic (198-SG-99) answered with 13 points for Serbia.

Italy - Finland 68-65
Italy nipped Finland at the start of the European Championship. Emanuele Trapani stepped up with 20 points to lead the Azzurri. Italy grabbed a 32:30 halftime lead. The Azzurri stretched the gap at 4-point mark at the final intermission. Finland sank 23 points in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the defeat. Lorenzo De Zardo posted 14 points for the winners. Elias Valtonen (192-G/F-99) responded with 25 points and 10 rebounds for Finland.

Group D
Latvia - Montenegro 47-64
Montenegro secured the winning start of their European Championship campaign. The Balkan team stormed past Latvia in the opener. Latvia grabbed a 9:4 lead after ten minutes. But Montenegro quickly bounced back. They unloaded 45 points in the next two periods to gain a 14-point lead at the final break. Montenegro never looked back afterwards cruising to the win. Andrija Stavkovic provided 24 points, while Marko Simonovic (173-PG-99) added 12 points for the winners. Rainers Kalnins (182-G-99) responded with 12 points for Latvia.

France - Croatia 66-61
France outgunned Croatia to open win count in Kaunas. Yanik Blanc (183-G-99) stepped up with 17 points for Les Bleues. France claimed a 44:38 halftime lead. France maintained the lead throughout the second half and coasted to the win. Jaylen Hoard (99) chipped in 16 points in the victory. Antonio Jordano (99) responded with 15 points for Croatia.

France crowned champions in Podgorica - 1 month ago
FINAL Montenegro - France 68-75 France celebrated title in Podgorica. They upset hosting Montenegro in the championship game today. Killian Hayes (194-G-01) stepped up with 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead les Bleues. France recorded a 28:14 lead after ten minutes. Montenegro worked hard to narrow the deficit at 4-point mark at the final intermission. But France replied with a 19:16 run in the fourth period to capture the trophy.
