Switzerland - Belgium 59-64
Belgium celebrated 64-59 win over Switzerland in Day Four of U20 EuroBasket Division B in Klatovy. Thanks to this win Belgium jumped to 2-2 record at this event, while at the other side Switzerland dropped to 0-3. Belgium had impressive start today making 28-11 lead. Switzerland replied with 16-6 in the second quarter and 14-10 in Q3. Switzerland continued in the same rhythm and grabbed 2-point lead at the halfway of the last period. However, Belgium created 14-7 run after that and jumped to 59-54 lead with 42 seconds to go. It was too much for Switzerland. Emmanuella Mayombo (170-SG-92, agency: LBM Management) led Belgium with 17 points and Liza Biebuyck (173-G/F-93) followed her with 12 pts. Evi Hayse (181-C/F-93) helped with 8 points and 6 rebounds. In defeat, Rosalie Grobet (185-F/C-92) was better than the others with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Sarah Cavin (178-SF-92) was their second scorer with 13 points. On Tuesday, Belgium will meet Germany. Switzerland will play against Israel.

Germany - Greece 41-48
Germany extended its wining streak to four at U20 EuroBasket Division B in Klatovy. They outplayed Germany today 48-41 for 4-0 record at this event. Third quarter was the crucial one in this meeting. Germany had minimum lead at the halftime, but Greece took control on them after that making 15-6 in third period for plus 8 with ten minutes to go. All what Germany managed to do for rest of the way was minus 3. Artemis Spanou (184-F-93) was a key player in victory with 25 points and 15 rebounds. She reached valuation 24. Anastasia Slouka (182-SG-93) and Anthoula Chatzigiakoumi (187-F-92) (8 rebs) had 7 and 6 points respectively. Germany got 13 points and 6 rebs from Sonja Greinacher (192-F/C-92, college: Gonzaga), while Judith Schmidt (186-F/C-92) had 7 points and 8 boards. Greece will take a day-off tomorrow. Germany will play against Belgium.

Romania - Israel 80-73 OT
Both teams had 1-2 record before this meeting. Romania grabbed 80-73 OT win against Israel joining Belgium at fifth place in U20 EuroBasket Division B in Klatovy. Israel dropped to seventh place with 1-3 score. Israel had 66-68 lead in the finish of regular time, but Cristina Bigica (182-G/F-92) than made a lay-up for Romania with only 2 seconds to go. Romania made crucial 7-1 run at the beginning of extra time and later managed to keep its lead for rest of the way. Bigica paced the winning squad with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Sonia Ursu (175-SG-93) (9 rebs) and Alexandra Ionescu (175-PG-92) helped their team with 18 points each. In the loosing squad, Bar Gilinski (185-PF-92) shined with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Avigiel Cohen (182-G-92) and Thea Lemberger (175-G-92) posted 15 points each. Quarters: 16-23, 13-15, 22-17, 17-13, 12-5 OT. In the next game Romania will meet Hungary, while Israel will play against Switzerland.

Bulgaria - Hungary 38-41
Third straight win for Hungary at U20 EuroBasket Division B in Klatovy. This time Hungary outsmarted Bulgaria in a low scoring game 41-38. Bulgaria had 38-37 lead with 2:26 remaining, but they were scoreless for rest of the way. At the other side, Anna Mansare (188-F/C-92) made a jump shot for Hungary and Zsofia Licskai (191-C/F-93) sealed the victory with lay-up. Quarters: 12-10, 5-12, 12-6, 12-10. Mansare scored 10 points in win and Licskai added 8 pts, plus 8 rebounds. Third scorer in Hungary was Viktoria Fuisz (175-G/F-93) with 7 points. In defeat, Gabriela Kostova (192-C-94) was better than the others with 12 points and 5 rebounds, while Iva Kostova (178-SG-94) had 9 pts and 5 boards. Championship continues on Tuesday. Hungary will take on Romania and Bulgaria will meet the host - Czech Republic.

Division A: Spain beats Russia in second straight final, defends the title Debrecen - Aug 27, 2012

FINAL Russia - Spain 46-59 Spain was too strong for Russia tonight 59-46 in the gold medal game at U20 EuroBasket in Debrecen. It means that Spain defended the title which they won last summer in Novi Sad. A year ago Spain also outplayed Russia in the title game 62-53.
