Last night the capital of Poland hosted the draw of EuroBasket 2009. Fifteen teams already qualified for EuroBasket 2009 and the one to be determined team to come from the Additional Qualifying Round were drawn into four groups of four.
Poznan will host Group A with FYR of Macedonia, Croatia, Israel and Greece. Russia, Germany, Latvia and the winner of the Additional Qualifying Round will play in Group B in Gdansk. [read more]

The capital of the country will see Great Britain, Serbia, Spain and Slovenia in Group C. Group D in Wroclaw will consist of Poland, Turkey, Lithuania and Bulgaria. The Additional Qualifying Round will give only one ticket to Group B as six teams were divided into two groups. The final spot at EuroBasket 2009 will be earned by the winner of the Additional Qualifying Round. Group A will have Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Belgium, while Group B will consist of Italy, France and Finland.
In 2007 final of Eurobasket 2007 Russia beat Spain 60:59. The hero of the game was definitely J.R. Holden, who's 2-pointer jump just 2.1 second before the end of the game save the game for Russians. Pau Gasol still could switch the victory towards host team, but his buzzer shot went in ...and out. That way Spain got their 6th silver medal at Eurobasket.The MVP of the tournament went to Russian Andrei Kirilenko, who was the leader of his team thru all competition games including the final one, where he got 17 points and 5 rebounds.

The Additional Qualification Round draw held yesterday at the Capitol Theatre of Warsaw was the... worse as possible for the Azzurri, who fould in their Group B one of the teams defeating them in August, Finland, and the other top team forced to play in the Additional Round, France. And the game schedule is not good too, with the first game vs. France at home, otherwise than hoped by coach Carlo Recalcati , who admitted that his Team Italy will face a very hard job next summer.
