Slovenia are the 2017 EuroBasket champions. They prevailed against Serbia in the dramatic clash to claim the historic title in Istanbul. Goran Dragic (190-PG-86) was pivotal for the champions with stellar performance of 35 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. He was trumped the MVP.
Serbia led throughout the bigger part of the first period. They ensured a 22:20 lead after ten minutes. But Slovenia led by Goran Dragic went firing from all guns in the second term. They erupted for 36 points and posted a 56:47 halftime lead. Serbia managed to slow their opponents down in the third term. Moreover Luka Doncic got sidelined with an injury. Stimac put Serbia within 2 points midway through the quarter. Goran Dragic however allowed Slovenia to enter the final frame up by 4 points 71:67. The teams went toe to toe in the final frame. Milan Macvan (206-PF-89) and Bogdan Bogdanovic (198-G/F-92) gave Serbia an 82:80 lead with under four minutes remaining. Anthony Randolph (211-PF-89, college: LSU) and Klemen Prepelic (191-G-92) answered with 8 straight points as Slovenia ensured an 88:82 advantage. Nikolic then made it 90:82 and Slovenia marched to the victory at the end. Klemen Prepelic delivered 21 points, while Anthony Randolph produced 11 points for the champions. Bogdan Bogdanovic answered with 22 points for Serbia. Milan Macvan had 18 points in the defeat. .

NBA guard Goran Dragic(190-PG-86) has confirmed he is retiring from the Slovenia team that won the European basketball championship.
