The game between closely ranked teams ended with Portuguese Benfica's (2-1) road victory over Belgian Basic-Fit Brussels (0-3) 79-74 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for Angola-Portuguese guard Carlos Morais (200-85, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-88, college: G.Washington) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American swingman Chris Dowe (193-91, college: Bellarmine) answered with 16 points and point guard Domien Loubry (186-85) added 9 points and 6 assists in the effort for Basic-Fit Brussels. First defeat of French Chalon/Saor (2-1) against Hungarian Alba (2-1) 111-91 was the most important game of the last round. The game was mostly controlled by Alba. Chalon/Saor managed to win fourth quarter 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alba dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Chalon/Saor's 50. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for Canadian guard Justin Edwards (190-92, college: Kansas St.) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Power forward Peter Lorant (206-85, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. A very interesting game took place in Limburg. It ended with only three-point home defeat of Belgian Limburg United (0-3) to French Gravelines-Dunkerque (3-0) 98-95 on Wednesday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 31-27. But Limburg United won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gravelines-Dunkerque made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. 28 personal fouls committed by Limburg United helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Kyle Gibson (196-87, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Justin Cobbs (191-91, college: California, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 19 points and 8 assists. Not a big story in a game when Estonia TLU/Kalev (0-2) was outscored by Lithuania Vytautas (2-0) in Prienai 104-61 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Vytautas. TLU/Kalev was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game, while TLU/Kalev only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded TLU/Kalev 47-27 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vytautas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Apoel was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 21-18 charge of Tsmoki-Minsk, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a good game for point guard Dru Joyce (183-85, college: Akron) who saved his team from a defeat with 14 points and 6 assists. Guard Justin Gray (188-84, college: Wake Forest) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Tsmoki-Minsk's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Brandon Mobley (206-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: HMS) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and guard Robert Brown (196-92, college: UAB) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Apoel.
